After compounding my hull with the official Makita 9227C and white wool pad, I switched to a clean yellow wool pad and polished with Finesse-It II. For both steps, I had the Makita on "4" and spurred frequently.
Oddly, I had a lot of problems with the Finesse-It depositing itself on the gelcoat in stubborn gummy areas. The buffer itself could not remove these gummy spots, only a fresh terry cloth towel and rubbing by hand. The buffer pad was also gumming-up.
After letting the pad dry for a day or two, and spurring the heck out of it, most of the gummy spots on the wool were gone. Using less Finesse-It seemed to help, and so did spurring more agressively. But I still got the occasional spot of material that could only removed rubbing by hand with a terry cloth.
Any ideas? Thanks....Lyle
