I have a couple of spider cracks I would like to try to fix. I know what people are going to say..they will come back. One is where previous owner came in the dock too hard. The other is on the deck where it looks like someone dropped something heavy. So I am confident they won't be back. So how would you go about doing this.

fill with "evercoat" gel coat scratch filler. let dry a week, then block sand with wet dry using progresively smoother paper.Any low spots fill again , wait a week and sand again. Then rubb out with compound and polish.

good luck, and dont rush, let it dry very hard before sanding.

To do it correctly, you need to open the cracks up wide and then fill them with gel coat. Just putting gel coat in the cracks as they are will not accomplish anything.

Greg, I was thinking of using a dremel to open the cracks a little. Using filler first then a gel coat. How wide would you suggest.1/16??? I have an idea in my head on how to do this. I just need some suggestions from someone who has actually done this.

I opened them about 1/8" and formed a "v" with a Dremel tool and a dental burr. What ever you use to fill the cracks with, be sure it's compatable with gel coat. I used gel coat paste as i wasn't into the laminate. I had to fill them twice with sanding in between because of shrinkage. You need to open them wide enough to do the repair.
