I've got a nice teak flag pole and a 36" flag mounted on it. The pole fits in stainless steel female fitting flush mounted in the stern of my boat. The problem is the teak pole is a little loose in the fitting. I'd like to have a high quality stainless fitting made for the bottom of the pole that will fit snuggly into the fitting. I've seen poles with this before but can not locate a vendor to make me the male fitting. Anyone have a vendor to recomend? Or, another solution?

I'd take the flagpole out and build it up with a couple coats of 5-minute epoxy, then sand/file till it fits the way you like.

I had the same problem with a worn teak flag staff. I mixed up some Marine Tex and coated the bottom. I then sanded after drying to fit my staff mount. Problem solved.

I had the same problem, and I'm lazy, so I used a couple of thick rubber o rings.

I'm even lazier, put a piece of duct tape on it 3 years ago--stll working.

All reasonable suggestions, but I really want a nice stainless or brass fitting for the end of the pole. Help!

Yes. I've been searching for a stainless fitting like these but have had no luck so far. I'm thinking that a shop that fabricates custom stainless fittings would have no trouble making one. I'm located in West Michigan (Grand Rapids area).

I'm thinking you'll be shocked at the price to custom machine a stainless steel fitting. You may find that you can buy a new stainless steel flagpole with matching socket for the same or less.

By chance, would a stock piece of stainless steel tubing fit the existing socket? If so, cut a piece an inch or two long, then sand your teak pole down until it is a tight force fit in the tubing. Epoxy it on for good measure.
