Found a good deck cleaner

May have been mentioned here before. But based on some recommendations I've read, I picked up some Starbright non-skid deck cleaner.

In the past the only thing I've found effective in cleaning heavy grime and soil is Soft Scrub. But I know the bleach ain't the best for fiberglass. Alternatives like Barkeepers Friend have not worked nearly as well.

I used the Starbright stuff yesterday to do the first cleaning of the deck since launching the boat. It was fairly dirty event though I put it away clean. Have to say it worked as well if not better than soft scrub. Squirt a little on, swirl it around with a brush and let sit for a minute or two and then scrub. Starts to foam up and does a nice job of lifting out dirt. Even did a good job on the little specks of mildwew between my non-skid diamonds. It contains teflon and is supposed to leave a "dirt repelling" finish. We'll see how that goes.

The best part is it's cheap. A 32oz bottle which will last me a season or two was under $15. Cheap and effective. I don't find that very often with boating related stuff.
 
I've been using it for the past 15+ years. A 32 oz bottle lasts a very long time; depending on boat size and how many times a year you use it.
 
Do you use it on the whole deck or just the non-skid? How stiff is the scrubbing brush you use?
 
I use it in the cockpit of my Convertible and the entire floor of the center console.

Depending on how bad it is will determine what brush to use. If the deck isn't that bad you can use a soft brush for cleaning light dirt buildup.

Semi stiff brush works most of the time. First time this year I used a stiff brush.
 
32oz bottle should definitely last awhile. I started off using too much. A little goes a long way. I used it on my foredeck non skid and cockpit with a medium brush.
 
amazing stuff. I only use it though when I'm going to wax above the rubrails because it strips wax.
 
What is in it? My deck drains around the hatch then all over the engine...the gutter does not work very well
 
For me, all I need is a soft brush or just rub with my hand. My vents for the engine room are plastic and it does a great job of cleaning them as well. Very little is needed. 15+ years and I am still on my first bottle.

According to the info I have it said "does not remove wax". Will have to look at the bottle.
 
The way it removes grease from decks, can't be good for wax.
 
I rebottle it into a spray bottle with an adjustable spray valve. Most often use the direct stream as opposed to the wide spray. Easier to control direction of spray.
 
+1 For Starbrite with PTE non skid deck cleaner. I love the stuff I haven't found anything close since I started with my Mainship.

Exactly what I was thinking...
 
I use Attwood Nonskid Deck Cleaner.
I don't care much for most Attwood products. Never had any luck in the past.
But I had to use some on my fishing boat once in Grand Isle, that's all I could find.
It was the best non skid cleaner I found, ever.
Just wet down the deck, squirt some straight from the bottle and brush. Let stand a
minute and rinse off.
One bottle can wash my decks on the Chris Craft about 4 or 5 times. More for the smaller
Cobia.
