I'm looking for ideas for a adhesive to use on stainless steel to wood. I am going to put mirror polished stainless on one wall in my head as a mirror. So it will need to be strong I will never have to take it down once it is in place any ideas? Thanks Jamie

Use brackets rather than adhesive. Steel will expand/contract at a different rate ( and for different reasons! ) than wood, so you need a mount that will allow for expansion slippage. Brackets will do that. If you use adhesive, the "mirror" will always appear to be warped. ( Mostly because it WILL be warped ).

IMHO. YMMV.

Maybe try using a plastic mirror. I got a 16X16 from TAP Plastics. Lightweight and lots of ways to mount and looks as good as glass.

As said, using brackets is a better choice but if you must, try E6000 glue, can find them in almost any stores (from Crafts stores to HomeDepot).

Use Velcro strips. Mirror finish wont be as polished on the back side.

Use either epoxy spread on with a notched spreader or Liquid Nails. Wipe the SS down with alcohol first.

FWIW, we just put a large sheet of SS up onto a wood wall and we used epoxy.

I mounted a 1x3' mirror finish with Velcro the S S is not heavy.

Velcro will work. But sometimes the adhesive will lose its hold if the temp gets high. And it will make the panel stand proud from the wall a bit.

Get .030 thk 304 stainless BA or a # 8 mirror finish one side only. Back side needs to be a 2B 0r 2D. Or rough up with a belt sander. A local sheet metal shop and a polishing house would take care of your needs.

I like the Velcro idea. If you do go that route get the heavy duty stuff. It really grips. Check McMaster-Carr on line. They should have it. Don't forget to let us know what you decide and how it works.
