Had the bottom cleaned. What a difference.

I had Ship Shape Boatworks clean the bottom and change zincs since I noticed marine growth on the hull. Prior to the cleaning the performance seemed a bit slugglish. Slow to get on plane and it just felt like I had a lot of resistance.

I test drove the boat after the bottom was cleaned and whoa what a difference. I was on plane and up to 30 mph in no time flat.

Ship shape cleaned the bottom of my Bayliner 2855 for $49.95. Not bad.

Now is a good time to get a lift for your boat! No more bottom cleaning, zinc replacing or outdrive corrosion. An air-Dock will pay for itself in about 4 years.

Yeah, a good cleaning makes a difference. You would think that slimey algae that likes boats around here wouldn't produce much drag but it does. Sometimes a good fast run will blow it off. My old boat is so slow I have a diver clean it once in a while.

Or find a used hydro hoist. I picked up a used 10,000 lbs. lift for about what a new air dock would have cost for my boat.

This is good advice and I would highly recommend it. That growth grows quickly and in a couple weeks you will notice the performance start to drop again.

It may seem like a lot to shell out, but as much as you use your boat, it would be a wise investment as your maintenance and repair costs will be a fraction of what they would be keeping it in the water.

Actually, those who do NOT use their boats often need one even more!

When I was searching for a lift eight years ago, I could not find a used hoist type available! With the down turn in boating, that may have changed. I do know that air docks are much easier to install, repair and move!
