We are moving to the Nyack area and wish to keep the boat in a local marina on the Hudson.

Any suggestions for a good one? Haverstraw looks big and modern and with lots of amenities. Average price for a 30 footer there?

Other marina options?

Thanks

Joe HM is a great Marina. Not sure of the cost for that size boat or what they have available, but with the staff, deep water, pool, and restaurant on site it is a great place to be. You will love it. Most of the RO's here are on Blue Dock.... Good luck and welcome to the Hudson.....

Their website is fairly comprehensive if you haven't explored it already. The rate sheet is from 2012 but I don't imagine rates have increased much, if at all. It shows around $76/foot for your size boat. You will love the Hudson and that area is a great place to jump off from to the North and South.

Prices did increase in 2013 but so did the number of boaters who moved to HM. That is why I said it was a good idea to check with hem about slip availability. Sierra is right about it being a great location to start out from...

As victoriamsecret suggested HM is your best choice, I think in the 30 foot size also very competitive with the other marinas around. I think it's a no brainier. Welcome to Rockland county. Let us know what you end up deciding.

We are at PennyBridge and love it. We do have to deal with low water, but for now, being there outweighs having deep water. If you have outdrives, it's really not a problem. You should take a ride up and look at all the marinas in the Haverstraw/Stony Point area.

Hogan how is the pool there? In my book there is only one reason not to be at Haverstraw is to save a few dollars or if you have friends in other marinas. Starting new to the area why not start in the best and be happy!

Dave, how is the long walk there? How are the noisy docks there? How is having to park way far away from your boat there? How is paying 50% more than other marinas there? Sure you have deep water and a pool - not everyone needs either of them.

Like I said, we are very happy where we are, for us right now, it's the right choice. We don't need a pool, how often do you even use it?

To rule out at least looking at any other marina in that area is just plain stupid. Perhaps he will end up at Haverstraw, but he should know what else is available.

I don't want to start another "my marina is better" thread, just pointing out that different people are looking for different things in their marina.

Seems I've heard someone say the exact same things about another Marina in the area when he was at that marina. Funny how the "best marina" is what ever one the boat is at that year.

All the marina's in the Stony Point/Haverstraw area have pros and cons. (We kept our boat at most of them over the years)

Check them all out and find what works for you.

Thanks guys.

So I have heard of Haverstraw and now Pennybridge.

Any others or just google marinas on the Hudson?

Thanks again

You can also look at Patsy's Bay in Stony Point. They have a pool, and a well stocked marine store. They are really great people, but they also do not have deep water. Worth a look however.

The major marinas (going south to north) in that area are Haverstraw, Pennybridge, Mineseago(sp), Patsys Bay, and Stony Point Bay Marina. There is another small boat only marina that you have to go under a small bridge and a 30' footer would be iffy there.

There some on the east side as well but I'm assuming the west side of the river is what you want.

Joe -

I would encourage you to go to Active Captain and poke around there. When you bring up the parts of the Hudson you're interested in the marinas will appear with varying amounts of general info and reviews to help better inform your decision based on your needs & wants.

With that being said he should come down to the Channel Club for a real resort like feel to a marina. The real beach is close, but the tiki bar/restaurant and heated pool is even closer.......

Plenty of room on yours. Feel free to leave in my slip. Just leave her unlocked.
