Got home last night after 2.5 weeks on the boat. (Paul (Jackie J IV) and I, plus most likely Jason (Blood, Sweat and Beers) at the least had over 50 hours on the engines of running time).
Most are in the same boat so to speak and just gathering our land legs back (plus catching up on the dreaded emails).
The RRR went well and I think everyone had a good time (including an all out balloon / steal the flag / covert operations / taking and 'torturing' of prisoners (read tequilla)) wars games between two rafts).
No 'turtles' were hit that I know of as the group split up in Killarney albiet I had two mirrors broken and the latch in the pocket door ripped out in heavy weather but that is another story.
Some stayed north and some came south so we will be all catching up over the next few weeks.
CD's of pics will be exchanged and the best of the best will be posted but it will take some time as everyone has a 'bizillion' pics (except me as my camera went kaput half way into it).
Anyway, stay tuned... the the pics and full report are coming.
PS - If anyone one of the participants wants to post pics now - please go ahead.... we would all be interested.
Thanks for your post.. I didn't intend to nag.. as I didn't know you were gone for that long..
It was a little quiet while you all were away, so I think we all look forward to catching up on the RRR..
Can't wait to see the posts..
I got a couple of pictures of Vaughn's Turtle Talisman when we were at Killbear Marina. Here's the Black Pearl proudly displaying the new Turtle Talisman.
Does that make it T/T Black Pearl?
Also, you might have missed your opportunity for another turtle encounter this year. We encountered this big fella the night after Killarney when we were anchored in Baie Fine.
Thanks for the pictures.. the scenery is simply beautiful. I love the Turtle Vaughn..
It looks like a blast, though I would be nervous if I had to lead the pack through those tight areas.
Paul: Those are great pictures of both turtles ... that would have been amazing to see the second one - looks huge. I'm sorry I missed it (no pun intended).
Scotty: Those are some nice pics on the way up ... I didn't take many pictures while we were moving (no Lee this year - I will have to train the turtle) ...
We had an interesting and fast trip back - Tuesday we were caught in a little T-Storm in a tight spot just above Byng Inlet but we did what we were supposed to do and it worked out o.k. - Daniela didn't enjoy it as much as I did so we stayed at Wights in Byng Inlet that night ... we took advantage of a very nice day and went out into the Bay Wednesday morning - that was very interesting - didn't see another boat until Hope Island - Daniela didn't like that part too much either - a little rough at times and far from land. Otherwise, a very enjoyable trip with almost perfect weather and little or no waiting at the locks.
RRR was lots of fun ... looking forward to hearing about everyones adventures post RRR ... I am sure there are some good stories ...
Joe: I'll eventually post some pics as well ... I took 183 pics - most of Water Dawgs' Dogs ...
We were part of a group of three boats (Southern Cross 3560, Lock Knut 3860 and Rudy's World 3860) that left after Killarny and didn't go deep into the North Channel. We left Killarny in the morning and had mill pond conditions for the 3 1/2 hour run on plane from Killarny to Honey Harbour staying about 10 miles offshore in deep water to avoid the turtle backs and hidden shoals. Good run and by had some very gentle rollers towards the end of the run... the others said that they could see right under the boat to the helm as we flew over the rollers at around 32 mph.
Here are a few pics from the end of day one. We rafted up for the night at a group of Islands called the Bustereds.
Here are a few of us waiting to join the raft.
There was not enough room for us all to raft together so we had to break up into two rafts. This resulted in some ammusing antics that evening. Here is a pic of the one raft and some of the Pirates for that raft. Dam Pirates.
Dave and Robin (Daisy Jane) if your watching this post we did try to stop by at Marina Del Ray but by the time we got near by it was too late to stop and we headed for home. We are in Orillia this weekend. I'll keep an ear open if you in the area stop by. I think we are at slip 77.
Great pics! looks like it was another great RRR. I am already pushing for a RRR next year in lake Ontario, so that Rommer, myself, DogDaze, BD156 can all make it![^]
Misty - how is the new boat treating you? hopefully all is well.
