Watch hill is a much nicer marina but less amenities !

What a crazy ride home! As soon as i turned to exit the Fire Island inlet i felt like i was in the deadliest catch. 8 horrible hours in some rough seas to get home. Normally takes 4-5.

For future reference, East Rockaway Inlet also known as Debs Inlet is the safest of all the south shore inlets. It is regularly dredged due to commercial oil deliveries. As Dave stated you can run inside to that point and with an express you don't need to worry about bridge openings. The distance from there in the ocean is 15-17 mi so it cuts down a good deal of the ocean run.
