How to get the shrink wrap tape "goo" off gelcoat

The shrink wrap was on for about 18 months and much of the tape at the bottom as started to disintegrate and left a semi-hard, gooey residue on the hull. What do you suggest to remove it with before I start the Buff Magic, Pro Polish steps? TIA

Acetone, Goop Off, etc.

Thanks Capt.! Just ordered the a supply of the Buff Magic and Pro Polish from boatfix, I should have thought of the acetone . . .

yup, acetone or any solvent. Even WD 40 works.

Goof Off or Goo Gone. They are citrus based and won't eat off the good stuff.

Another vote for Goo Gone. It's pretty benign, and it works.
