Which do you do first?

I think if I wax first, the blue tape wont stick, then if I bottom paint first, I get wax on the bottom paint...

I guess I could always tape off the bottom paint once its painted then wax...

Or if you're really concerned, tape off the bottom after the paint is dried and cured.

The risk of getting wax under the new bottom paint is a lot worse than if you get a little wax on the bottom paint.

I paint first. The blue tape sticks better, and I like to get it out of the way.
Then I clean, polish, and wax.

just the opposite for me. I paint the bottom after all the waxing and scrubbing is done. I hate to see wax on fresh paint and I hate to see streaks in the paint form the chemicals in the water I use to clean the boat in the spring. Never had a problem doing it this way.

I always wax first, paint after. No problem with the blue tape sticking to the hull. Plus if bottom paint lands on the hull, it is easily wiped off (within minutes) without a solvent to strip the wax.
