As many of you know a year ago in July we moved our boat to Watts Bar Lake TN on the Tennessee River. We didn’t make it there in time for July 4th but this year I made sure we d have a couple of weeks to enjoy small town USA Independence Day!

Moving the boat to a lake was a bit of a gamble after spending 40 years boating in salt water. We did a lot of research and bought land here in TN four years ago having decided this was where we d eventually build and retire. Miami and SoFl has become just too crazy in the last 5-10 years even on the water, boating in Miami on week ends is almost dangerous. Also, we re done with hurricanes (almost impossible to insure an old Hatteras) and paying $2k a month in dockage…

Watts Bar Lake is one of the biggest lakes in the south east with about 700 miles of shoreline. In a year here we ve barely scratched the surface, there are thousands of coves we can anchor in! And even in a busy summer holiday week end, traffic is minimal and most coves are empty.

The marina we picked could be called rustic with many houseboats past their prime but it s very protected, with a nice waterfront restaurant and great people. We re in an open slip on the end of a covered dock in an open slip with a great view and complete privacy. Only down side are the spiders… but making progress in prevention.

This week end we got to hook up with a couple who were our dock neighbors in Miami and just moved their 60 footer to the lake from Miami. They had come to visit a couple of years ago when we had rented a cabin and fell in love with the area, bought a house and moved their boat here.

So here are a few pictures from our first Small Town USA July 4th celebration. Post yours but only boating or on the water pictures being a boating side :)

Looks good! We debated Tn. but chose SWFl so we could still boat to the Bahamas. Now that we are done with that, who knows?

She looks great under power
if I remember correctly you repowered with Cummins I think ?
what kind of performance are you getting on your 53 with that?

Yes, repowered with 435hp Cummins 6CTAs. Top is 19kts cruise at 16-17kts which we rarely do anyway.

Nice Pascal. I have been a lake boater my whole life and Lake Norman in NC for the last 25yrs. We love it, LKN is busy, but it is also so big you can always find a quiet cove. Weekdays are the best. I missed it this year - we are moving our daughter to Tampa FL this week! - but July 4th fireworks on the lake is one of my favorite things, I rarely miss it. We plan to do some saltwater boating around Tampa, somehow. The Hatty looks great, love the yellow.

Wish I could get there, but probably too remote for the Admiral. Even though Tenn is on her list, she's more of a Nashville gal.

Why Yachting Has Become a Popular Travel Trend in Dubai

In recent years, marine leisure activities have gained increasing popularity among tourists, with Dubai emerging as a prime destination thanks to its unique coastal setting.

The city offers ideal conditions for yachting, featuring modern marinas, a spectacular skyline, and a warm maritime climate. Visitors can enjoy a seamless blend of urban sights, stunning scenery, and the open sea within a short timeframe.

The growth of yacht charter services in Dubai has made it easy for visitors to plan their own maritime excursions. Whether opting for a quick cruise or a leisurely experience complete with dining, travelers can find options that suit their specific needs.

Compared to traditional sightseeing routes, the most significant shift offered by yachting is the perspective. Instead of merely observing the city from afar, visitors engage with the cityscape from the water.

This unique experience has made yachting a popular choice for travelers in Dubai and a standout highlight in many people's travel memories.
Hey bot, what does this have to do with Tennessee?
