Seems like I remember seeing this posted around here recently, but I can longer find it -

Electric head appears to be leaking where the pump attaches to the bowl as best I can tell. Looks like I need to loosen and tilt the head to order to get back there. Of course, it is at the bottom, so it is blackwater.

Anyone had this experience? Wondering if I'm looking at a gasket, or just tightening, or some combination of both.

Thanks,
Paul

If it's similar to our electric Jabsco toilet... they make a rebuild kit... or you can just buy spare parts. If you don't have it, go to the Xylem website and get the manual with exploded diagram, check out the part on the rebuild kit.

FWIW, ours was getting noisy after 10-12 years or so... I did a partial rebuild, but that didn't actually completely solve it, in my case because I hadn't gotten/installed a new shaft seal, didn't realize I'd needed it. The rebuild didn't make the thing any quieter either... so I talked to Jabsco... and Paul suggested I'd gotten my money's worth out of that pump anyway.

Turned out, it was easier and much faster to simply replace the whole pump, and it wasn't particularly expensive. And it became quiet again.

Thanks. I'm going to try removing the pump, using some RTV on the offending seal and see where that gets me. At just about 6 years old, it should not be ready for a rebuild and has not had extremely heavy use.

Last year, I did have a separate issue of the freshwater valve/solenoid not closing all the way and overflowing the bowl when not in use. That wasn't too painful to repair and I found my long lost college ring while I was crawling around down there!
