Does any one have a pdf or picture of where the wires near the top of the genset by the carb, get plugged into
I had the starter replaced and it refuses to start, noticed that there were some wires that were not plugged in anywhere and could not figure where the wires should go

thanks

Are you saying the starter doesn't rotate or it does but the motor the engine doesn't start on the generator which is it please clarify

lsilver,

send me your email, I will send the repair manual, most likely some of the sensor wires not hooked up.

The starter stopped cranking, hear a whirring sound (it has a reduction). so I am checking it as well. the original issue was that starter would turn engine would not fire
had gas, compression and spark,

engine would fire up right away when using starting fluid bit die as soon as starting fluid ran out
why i suspect the wire are wrong

ran the starter so much it stopped again
:(

This genset uses an electric fuel pump. The pressure should be 2 - 3.5 psi with 12 volts applied to the pump. Another suggestion I will add is if the engine is cold the choke must work regardless of the ambient temperature. Even if it is 100 degrees outside the choke has to close on a closed engine or it will have to crank a long time before finally starting. The choke is automatic and uses a temperature sensor to determine whether or not to close the electric choke.

Also, sounds like you fried your stater, they go easily, went trough 2 during my no start issue.

Larry,

How much gas do you have in the tank? The pick up for fuel is higher in the tank, you may need over 1/4 tank for it to pickup fuel.

plenty of gas in the tank. When the starter was working i saw the gas spurt out at every crank, (i disconnected line to ensure gas). I am hoping to get down to boat this weekend to finish removing and checking starter, (this is a real pia) get to , to replace) once done, I am going to see if i can fix starter. Then I will put it all back together , and hopefully with help of manual figure out where the wires get connected to.
then back to troublehooting what is happening at carb. I am guessing that one of the wires was not placed properly and the carb was not putting gas to engine.

*** Update ***
dsantos, thanks for the service manual.
it helped a bit, do you have the parts manual by any chance, it has some nice exploded views/

I seems that my starter was fine, but the starter relay, was not, it would work, then not.

so I ordered a new starter, (the relay is on the starter). will troubleshoot more once i have a new starter

yep thanks to all of you who have sent me the manuals.
got parts ordered back to boat next week to get it working hopefully
so far i know i have spark fuel pressure, compression, oil, and starter that need fixing.

Larry I am not understanding why you think the starter would cause your generator to not stay running? If the starter cranks the motor over then the starter doesn't need to be replaced. if you could tell the board what is happening one of us could probably help you.
Bill.

Reason for the starter bit, is that I fried the starter relay (solenoid) while trying to get the gen started.
I also checked fuel pump pressure, as well as spark prior to the starter relay frying.
New starter due to arrive today, and will try to get it in next week, then move on with TS

Why didn't you just take the starter to a rebuild shop, they could have switched out the relay for you for much less that what a new starter cost.

new starter = 100 cheap enough to replace than worry anything else on it went bad with excessive cranking
