It's here! Weather looking great. I hope everyone gets out and puts some hours on the motors.

Or those of us who elect Bowline that we put some hours on our genny's. (I had to say that since that topic has died down a bit).....

Just make sure you run them 24 hours a day. Don't want those batteries to die!

Since it's been cooler I have been running mine a lot less! I also replaced my charger and this seems to have helped!

See you out there:)

Thinking about a new purchase and I may need to join the genny all night crew. It does not appear I will have enough ventilation in the master suite. :)

I can relate!

Great day on the Pond today!

When I got there I had a little trouble setting my anchor where I had intended and someone called and gave me a hard time on the radio making it clear I was too close for his comfort! I have been dropping anchor here for years and have never caused anyone any concern so I was a bit surprised by this call frankly I was just about to pull the anchor for the third time and try to reset it when I was hailed.

Later the same day this very same group of boats let their kids tow a tube around the pond in a no wake zone for what seemed like hours. I was a bit surprised by this as well.

Mind you I know this group and have never had any issues with them in the past so this was seemed a little out of character.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone here but I felt there was plenty of room to drop anchor where I tried but the current was a bit stronger then usual and pulled me back quicker then my anchor could set. I hope where I anchored was OK for you after I moved:)

Dave ,
Let me respond to your post as you are referring to me and two other boats that were rafted to my boat and anchored for 2 hours prior to you entering the cove and with only 3 other boats in Bowline at the time. Let me repeat myself, I was anchored 2 hours prior to you entering the cove and with only 3 other boats in Bowline. You chose to drop your anchor directly in front of my boat and on top of my anchor as i laid out a minimum of 150ft of scope with no stern anchor. As you proceeded to drop your anchor and pull back your boat for the 3rd time, you left approximately 30 to 40 ft separating our boats. I Hailed you on the VHF to inform you that you would be too close to my boat and that
when the tide changes, "it would get ugly." I then asked you if you would be the only one that would be anchoring here, and your reply was that no other boats would be rafting to you. Then you proceeded to state and I quote, "I am only staying for the day and will be leaving... everyone else on my raft up will be staying". So why would you subject other boaters on your raft up with a potential anchoring issue?
You, as a boater with all your experience, should know that when any boat anchors with one anchor and no stern in a pond with a depth of 30 ft, the rule of anchoring is to provide ones vessel with a 7 to 1 scope. This translates to appox 175 to 200 ft of scope. Hence you should not anchor close to, or in this case, on top of the anchored vessel. You should choose an alternate anchoring location.
The entire pond was empty. There was no need for you to anchor in front of me just because you think this is your pond. I guess I did not see the sign that stated " This is Dave's anchor area, all others are subjected to my wrath by a post on this forum."

What I find offensive, is that you have the nerve to talk to me as I am your friend on the radio, and then post this on the forum as if you were correct in what you did. This would have not occurred if you would have used common sense and good judgment in selecting an anchorage in an essentially an empty pond. And please do not use the excuse that the current was strong...the current in Bowline is consistent. Just remember, there were 12 other individuals in our raft up who saw this take place, and all agree you were wrong for what you did and where you attempted to anchor. Next time don't try to shoe horn your boat in front of mine just so you could be close to shore.
The reason you never had an issue prior to today is because you never anchor that close. Do'h! By posting this just makes you look foolish.

As a sidenote, the kids on the dink did not wake you and you boat as they were far away from you, so stop attempting to create a non issue. The person that may have waked you was on a jet ski and was not in our raft up. If you remember, we talked about this, too, over the VHF radio when you hailed me (in your friendly tone) prior to posting your post.

And yes, actually where you ultimately anchored was the correct distance. See, you are learning.

Bob,

As I stated I was in the process of pulling the anchor when you hailed hence my surprise when you called me! There must have been easily a 150-200 yards between you and the shore there would not have been an issue if my anchor set were I originally dropped it. As for the pond belonging to me I don't have a clue where this comes from. I will say, I didn't like the tone you took with me stating that "you weren't going to deal with this today" implying that you have dealt with it in the past, when I questioned this you repeated this again but added you were "warning" me that you weren't going to deal with this today. I have never had an issue with you or anyone else in the past and you implied that I had caused issues in the past and this is simply not the case.
"And yes, actually where you anchored was the correct distance. See you are learning." even your tone with this comment is offensive where I originally drop was very close to the same distance as I ended up but I couldn't get the anchor to bite until I was on top of you. How you could have thought I was planning on staying there and the tone you took with me is the only issue I have.

As for the kids they were zipping back and forth all around the cove, there were many in my raftup that were concerned about this. I wasn't bothered but I was concerned for the swimmers that could have been at risk. I have never seen anyone towing a tube in the pond while boats and swimmers were present.

I have always thought of you as a friend and a respected fellow boater I have been looking forward to you joining the marina and joining the fun group of friends we have made. All I ask is give some thought to how you speak to people in the future I have never been a problem for anyone why would you take that tone with me?

"as i stated over the VHF radio after you hailed me in your friendly tone prior to posting this." if you had used this same friendly tone with me I would have simply chuckled and explained that it was not my intention to stay there and this thread would not exist it was your tone that set me off and did not sit well.

I have said me piece and will not mention it again. I will see you on the water tomorrow I hope we can put this behind us.

Not going to talk to the anchoring issue, but the kids on the dink in the pond is wrong. It's rude as is causes wakes for everyone else around (see Lady Taz's pic in the other thread) and for those that swim around the pond, it's dangerous. We all go slow in there and so should anyone on a dink. I'd just ask that you consider this when others are anchored in there with you.

Great weekend so far I was only expecting a couple of boats but some time things just fall into place, good times were had by all!

We spent the day and night in the pond. The weather was fantastic.

Only about 10 other boats stayed out...

Surprisingly quiet overnight. It was a great night to be out. No genies required. :)

That's a good thing I guess:)
It was a busy weekend I wish I could have spent at least one night on board but it just wasn't in the cards this week. I'm surprised only a few spent the night but glad those that did enjoyed themselves!

I was the last man standing at Croton. Dropped anchor about 6:30 and there was only one other boat there.i don't get it.
