I want to replace the old and dated recessed courtesy lights on my swim platform and cockpit are with some blue LED lights and I am looking for a recommendation. These lights are the ones that provide illumination down low… not the ones on the radar arch. The problem is that the existing lights had a 1.5" hole drilled for them and screw holes that are about 2" apart. Therefore I need a replacement light that will ideally cover a 2" wide area and about 1.75 in height.

Most of the LED's I'm finding pride themselves are being tiny and will not cover both the hole and screw holes.

Ideally looking for something oblong… but after a lot of searching, I can't find a single light 1.75" in height.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Can you simply just change the bulbs not the entire fixture?

I like IMTRA LED's. You can get full fixtures or simple replacement LED assemblies.

Dave, I could... but the old fixtures are somewhat dated and the len's are yellowed from time. Would prefer to swap out the whole fiture.

BillyIII, I looked at Imtra Montauk's... would have been perfect but they are just a bit two small in height. Majorca's would have been nice (not oblong, their round design looks good) but at $150 per light, they're too much.

Take a look at lumitec, they are pretty good and have a good selection. I replaced some aging overhead incandescent with some of theirs

take a look at superbrightleds.com I've had lots of luck getting stuff from them in the past.

Give the guys at MarineBeam a call. Great quality and excellent knowledge of marine lighting issues. From looking at their web site, it appears they may have a solution, but I'd call them to discuss options.

If nothing else, you could make an adapter out of white plastic to cover the large hole and then mount your smaller light in it. A hole saw would make a nice round adapter with a hole in the center.

+1 for Lumatec! I use some of their products as well.

You could make a cover plate out of Starboard and then make the correct size cutout for the light fixture in the Starboard. You can get Starboard in colors and as thin as 1/8". Starboard is also machinable, so you can put a rolled edge on it with a router bit.
