I hauled my boat in November and will be putting it back in the lake in a couple of weeks. Last time I hauled it, about 3 years ago, I'd had some pitting on the outdrive, so I sanded and painted. (Not to Gee Bee's specs; I bow to the master on that seminal piece.) They cleaned up nicely, though.
This time, instead of the pitting, it's almost like a growth, and it looks like lichens. I'm prepared to sand and repaint, but I'm wondering if it is a growth of some sort that I'd be better removing chemically, first, and then sanding and painting.
Thoughts?
