Mavericks

I was at the last one three years ago. Nearly got washed out by a wave. I seen them building and told my wife we needed to get off the beach and had just gotten back behind the break wall and a little way up the hill when the wave broke on the beach. People steppin and fetchin everywhere.

I remember that. Several people got hurt. They don't allow viewing from the beach anymore because of that incident. This year on Saturday, 6 surfers (not competitors) got washed out in heavy rip tides and had to be rescued. At lese 1 by helicopter
