Meguires Premium Polish...Any Good ?

Anyone used Maguires Premium Polish on their boats? Good or Bad ???
I've been using the Fleet Wax. Tough stuff to use.
 
I always used a cleaner/wax during the season now called correction cream like simonix every 2-4 weeks after the initial clean and wax phase.

I've used Maguires with good results also. Both products are best applied in small sections and taken off quickly before they have a chance to bake in.
 
I haven't used Meguiars Polish but their product line is good. The trick to a good wax job is taking it off, meaning with some products you "must" do small sections at a time. I was speaking with reps from Collinite at a trade show in Las Vegas and they concurred, you have to get it off to obtain a good shine. Collinite and 3M both have great products but neither resemble "easy." However given the right tools to apply and remove they give great results.

It will be interesting to see if there is increased use of Buff Magic and Leverage this coming Spring.
 
I use their Flagship Wax. It is absolutely the best product to come out of Meguiar's yet. It's a polymer so it will bond with the gelcoat and the shine is unbelievable. Plus it has some cleaner in it so it does a nice job in one pass. Put it on with a Porter Cable Orbital and a foam pad and be prepared to be amazed.
 
I’ve read numerous posts re Collinite Fleetwax #885. Everyone likes the shine & performance but there is normally a negative response re the buffing off after application. It usually complains about the difficulty re removal during buffing. I, for the life of me, don’t know why these negative comments are so prevalent. If directions are read & followed; this product is as easy as any I’ve ever tried to remove. Just follow directions………..do small areas; do not let dry; buff off. If you choose to let dry…….you better have a jack hammer to help remove. Don’t despair; just put a fresh coat on top of dried coat & remove immediately.
 
Yes, the Fleetwax does a very nice job. I did small areas and did not let it dry. Just thought it was a little difficult. But if the others are the same way then why change. My problem is I have to hang on the side with one hand and use the 7" electric buffer with the other hand. Gets a little dicey sometimes. Oh well, I did it once so I guess I can do it again. I might try Maguires Flagship on a spot as a comparison for application and final results. What the heck.
 
I've used the Flagship wax on mine...it doesn't seem to last. Shines like mad when I put it on, but the next week, gone. I have found the best results from West Marine's Carnuba paste wax...brilliant shine and it lasts for...well most of the summer.
 
RamSport47, try the Fleetwax for durability. You must use their cleaner first for optimum performance. It's the absolute best f/g cleaner I've ever used. Even used it on vinyl. You can do the whole boat with the cleaner before removal. As stated b4; DON'T let the Fleetwax dry.
 
I currently use the Flagship wax(works well in low traffic areas) as well as the Collinite,Yachtbrite and the Simonize Marine waxes on different parts of the boat each producing it's own shine and longevity but the Carver gelcoat whichever wax I use always seem to produce a cloudness after a couple of months.Ramsport47 have you or your dealership expirence this in the boats they sell or are there different quality grades of gelcoat.
 
Meguire's makes a great product line. If she's badly oxidized, as mine was, I recommend 3M Fiberglass Restorer Wax, But it doesn't resemble easy. The only really good part, sort of is that they recommend rubbing it until it's all rubbed in so there is no removal. Follow with a godd soapy wash to stabilize it as they call it.Then a good uv protective wax.
 
Carver has used the same gelcoat since they went to the "pure white" back in 1983. Just recently (2005?) they went to a whiter white, but have always used the same quality gelcoat. If yours gets cloudy, I would buff it out before you wax, and keep a good coat of wax on it. I wax mine about every 3 - 4 weeks, but at 20, she shines like a new one.
 
I hit her hard each spring with 3M products before launch. I am lucky to find the time to get a 2nd coat on each season, guess I would rather be out "floating" (priorities are mixed up). I'll be visiting your neighborhood this summer Ram - suppose you can whip one of those "durable" wax jobs on for me when I do?

The guy who invents wax that lasts a full season (or more) will be rich beyond his wildest dreams...
 
I have been using "Flagship" by Meguires for a few seasons now. Easiest I ever used and last long. Great shine. Make sure you have all your oxidation off first.
