Memorial Day Weekend

Yea Butch Abby too! I was going to take her for her 1st boat ride Saturday but......Hopefully at least part of this weekend will be nice enough for that.
Mike, not real concerned about the rain Saturday but they are saying it's going to be pretty chilly too. Oh, wait a minute, I have heat on the boat, ok, so therefore I'm not real concerned with the rain or the cold.
It's a long summer and into fall. We will have plenty of warm sunny days to enjoy. For me, between an very stressful job & coming off a very (unusually) stressful two years in my personal life, I am just very gratful and content to be able to go to my boat and get some much needed rest & de-stressing regardless of the weather. When I am on the boat I tend to be able to let things go and clear my mind a bit. I often find it difficult to do that anywhere else......which is why I still have the boat even after a couple of years of barely using it.

A bad day on the boat is better than a good day at work!
It's just frustrating that in the beginning of every week, the weather forecasters tell us that the weekend is going to be nice, then as it get closer to the weekend, the forecast starts getting worse and worse.
It doesn't matter to me, I'll be on my boat whether it's at the marina or out on the hook. We can't get out anyway, the water is too shallow - it's the Haverstraw "dock mary's" who have no exucuses.

Seems like my plans may be changing for the weekend. I was supposed to head down to Zachs Bay for the airshow and a big raft-up. But now with the weather it seems like everyone is bailing on those plans.
No sense going all the way down there if no one else is going. I may head up to Bowline instead. Will anyone be there if it's raining, or will everyone stay dock-side?

I am going to try to spend Sunday night in the pond. Although it looks like it may be a little chilly, it will be nice to get away for the night.

We will be up all weekend as well, however if it is crummy out we may catch a movie at Palisades Mall.

As far as Friday and the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend are concerned, we now have some pretty interesting challenges as far as getting the forecast details ironed out, especially for both Friday and Saturday.
Downpours early on Friday with drenching rain dwindling by afternoon. Much cooler temperatures settle in and remain for the next two days.
Saturday is now looking like there will be plenty of clouds and even some rain.
Temperatures also are going to be a challenge, because we can envision a scenario where it may be hard-pressed to get out of the 50s in some places on Saturday, if it were cloudy enough. Even though rain may not occur beyond Saturday morning, there will be a gusty wind and it will be noticeably cooler as a deep, upper level trough begins to dig into the Northeast and the mid-Atlantic states.
While the outlook for Sunday and Memorial Day is better as high pressure begins to build into the area, we still have some serious concerns about just how dreary Saturday might be -- with the possibility of a few hours of rain and temperatures about 10 or 15 degrees below the seasonal averages.

Wet snow being picked up on the radar across Western NY State this morning behind the approaching cold front, some models picking up on wet snow across the highest peaks of the Catskills (not accumulating). Highs in the 50's and 60's this weekend, and as you can see in the image below, lows down into the 30's and 40's.
