My Results with BM & PP

Good info. Just ordered mine. Has anyone used a RO buffer? If so, I'd be interested in hearing results. Thats all I currently own, but am considering a rotary.

Also- To compound/remove the BM is it ok to use a yellow wool pad? Can I use terry cloth pads? How about for removing the PP? Terry OK for that?

Don't bother using Buff Magic with a random orbit buffer. And use a good quality wool pad for gelcoat. If the pad is clean, it should self-remove. Dirty pad = residue.

I spur the pad after I do two 3 to 4 foot sections. The cleaner the pad is the better outcome I have.

If the order hasn't shipped yet you could try opening a helpdesk ticket and they might be able to add it to the order.

Call me cheap, but I use the edge of a paint stir stick or a tongue blade!

I use a wooden stick as well. Works just fine.......

I'm going to be doing my boat this weekend with BM and PP and I'm curious about how much BM is too much. Some of you mention using a wax applicator pad to apply. Do you mean to put it on the hull like you would normally apply a wax and then buff it with the wheel? Do you wait for it to dry and haze like a wax before using the buffer on it? I just want to make sure I have the right info before going at it.

By the way, I use the same spurring tool in rommer's link. It works great on wool pads.

Thanks,

Too late - got the order last week. Apparently Mike isn't doing his job because he didn't remind me what I forgot to order.

I used the end of a Phillips screwdriver as a spur.

Jeremy, i apply Buff magic just like i would apply wax. I use a foam pad and completely cover the 3 or 4 foot area I'll be buffing. I do not wait for it to dry, but start buffing right away. Use it SPARINGLY!

How does the BM/PP effect the transom letters of the boat's name. Mine are vinyl.

Tread lightly over them with the BM and you should have no problems. Cleans them up nicely.

I went right over mine without problem, I did wonder though!!

Thanks Gregory.

Ponied up for the Flex rotary buffer, which I am told is comparable to the old porter cable 7428. I read some professional and consumer reviews and it seems like a really nice machine. Buff Magic and PP arrived today and will be put to use Saturday.
