I have a new to me boat being delivered by captain from Atlantic City to my slip in Copiague. What is the best way to tell him to get to me? I am unable to make the trip with him myself. They are coming early Saturday morning. Boat has a 4 foot draft. Should he come in Jones inlet? Fire Island inlet? Take the Amityville cut? Lindy cut? Bayshore? What do u suggest? Thanks

I have always taken Jones to go to A/C. Check the height of Sloop Channel bridge (I think it was 21' at mean high tide) and definitely take the Lindy cut. Unless they have dredged it, Amity can be a grounding waiting to happen.
Good luck with the new boat.

By the way, low tide on Saturday is 4pm.

If he can get under bridges, then Jones, to state channel to Lindy Cut to north channel going west.
If he can't get under bridges then fire island inlet, to captree, to babylon cut to north channel going west.

if he is a Captain, I would hope he knows basic navigation and can decide on his own! If you tell him what to do and he runs aground or hits a bridge, you know who he is going to blame!

What size boat? This weekend may be tough for boating given the storm will be close to AC on Saturday!

If he isn't familiar with the unforgiving shallow depths here on the south shore I would probably advise him to come in the Fire Island Inlet.
If I were aboard I would go in Jones Inlet, but there are a few tough spots if someone doesn't know the water and local conditions.
I noticed some shallow spots just on the west side of the Meadowbrook Bridge about a month ago, and also a tough spot on the east side of the southern most Wantagh Bridge (always forget the name) between the bridge and Zack's Bay. You'd have to be off plane in both of those spots and it could get scary with a 4' draft.
