Hi,

I have an older Silverton 31' Convertible. She's pretty mechanically sound, but in need of some cosmetic work. A previous owner had painted the flybridge floor, and the horizontal surface of the gunwale around the cockpit. The paint is now peeling andor faded, and I need to strip and refinish these areas. There is already a factory non-skid surface under these areas. What would be the best product and application procedure (i.e. brush, roller, squeegee) for someone doing this themselves. I haven't yet begun to strip them, and it is possible that the factory surfaces under them are OK and I may leave it alone, but assuming its not too great, any Ideas would be welcome.

Thanks

I've read some boat builders are having pretty good luck with a product called "KiwiGrip". Easy to apply and durable. I have to redo my swim platform and was looking at using it.

drfeno, are you a member of the Silverton Owners Club ? If so, there's a whole procedure re this matter on website. I believe it's in the library section but I think you have to be a member to access.

Hey KnottyBuoys,

I just looked at the Kiwigrip website, and it looks great. I may look at using that product in the spring. Thanks

I did my Silverton cockpit deck with Interlux Interdeck. That's as close to what was used at the factory as you can get. I got great results with a 4" foam roller.
