Hi All: I haven't been on the site for a while and miss chatting with all of you. I do have a question regarding boat canvas fabricator/installer. Is anyone familiar with a company called True Blue Canvas located out of the Anchorage Yacht Club in Lindenhurst? The owners name is Trevor. He seems like a very competent, knowledgable person but I was wondering if anyone was familiar with his work? Quality of it etc...? He gave me what seems to be a fair price to make and install all new canvas and isinglas on my 40 ft searay but I want to check him out.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hope to see you on the Bay,
OJ

OJ....... it may be worth the time to check with AMC canvas in Amityville. I think their price is hard to beat.

Are you remaking the entire canvas ?? What color ?

I agree with giving AMC canvas an opportunity. Tony redesigned my enclosure last season on my 38' bridge boat. The job looks perfect, better than from the factory.

Tony's a good design & construction mechanic.......by far.

Hi Guys: I apologize. I should have indicated that I already gave Tony rb2@gr5t AMC his shot. For the same work he wanted $1000 more to do the tops, all new isinglas, and new aft cover and if I wanted a camper back installed he wanted what amounts to $2000 higher than True Blue. Tony did my new canvas (camper back and all) last year on my 27 and did a great job but I will say that what he charged me for the 27' boat, True Blue only wants $600.00 more for the 40' boat where Tony wants $1600.00. Now you see why I am shopping around.
Big 'D', if I definitely change the canvas I will make sure that I pass on my old green one to you. I know how you love that color and need the material.

OJ............. I'll take the old TEAL if you are tossing it.......its a discontinued sunbrella color and I still need to make a cover for my dink.....an aft seat cover ( when I use my winter aft curtain ).......... and helm cover.

Hard to believe Tony can't beat the price......go figure. Are the glass products the same material ??

What color are you thinking ?

Trevor does excellent work. He provided a new flybridge enclosure for my 44 Atlantic. Very reasonable and will even negotiate if you indicate price seems a bit high to you. Take a look at my site at http://mysite.verizon.net/resok538 to see his work.

Paul

BTW he is very dependable and usually delivers when promised.

Well if you discount your kick back..... :)

Walter

Thanks Paul. Will check your site out later.
Big 'D', if I do change the canvas, I will pass on all my teal material to you. I am thinking of Black as the color.
Walter, always quick with the wit. I love it! Walter, since you are over at Anchorage, do you know of anyone who has had True Blue Canvas do any work for them?
Also, have a small favor to ask, do you know anyone with a slip that I could use for about 4 hours a day for a few days? You know my boat is a 40 Sea Ray Sundancer with a 14' beam so I need kind of a large slip. That is what True Blue will need time wise to do my work and he can't do it at SS3 where I keep the boat now.

Thanks all,
OJ

OJ,
There is a slip that is empty next to mine (D54), not sure what is up with it but you may want to call the office to see. My slip (D55) will be empty from 6-23 till 7-04, If you can arrange to have the work done in that time frame you are more than welcome to use my slip.

OJ, I do not know anyone that has ever used True Blue, they have been around in the Anchorage for a long time so my guess is they are doing something right. If they sucked I would think I would of heard something.

PS.
Both slips I mentioned will be large enough for you.

If your in a pinch and can't get it done while my slip is vacant, I will try to work it out with you so we can swap slips for the time you need it.

Walter

Thank you so much Walter for your offer. I will definitely keep it in mind. I wonder if D54 is up for sale. I will call Joelle and ask her. Aren't you going to be at Westhampton Beach Village Marina with a few other boats over July 4th? I work in Westhampton Beach so maybe we could all hook up for a drink or some lunch or something.
Was out at the anchorage Friday daytime and saw your boat. Looks great! Who did the detailing? It looks like they did a great job.
Thanks again for the offer, will let you know when and if the time comes whether I will take you up on it.

OJ

Woah, D54 is mine if its for sale. I have been looking to move to D dock. If I move I will sell you my slip.

Well, I will have to pay you some cash since I am only asking 750K for the slip, so I will have to give you $500K.

I'll carry the paper at 7.75 %...... if that will help !

Sory guys, first come first served as they say. I got first dibbs on D54 but I will gladly rent it to one of you after I have bought it if you are interested!!!

OJ

OJ,
Email me what they are asking, I will tell you if it is a fair price, I have heard some crazy numbers, don't want to see you get soaked.

Email me your phone number, I will call you and tell you (if you want) what I think. It will be great to have you as a neighbor.

Walter

Called Joelle today. She said D54 is definitely not up for sale. It is rented and she said that she doesn't know why the people haven't put their boat in the slip, they paid for it already. She also said that on D dock nothing has been for sale for awhile.

Would love to be your neighbor Walter but for now I guess SS3 will be as close as I can get. Maybe next year.

I have emailed you my phone anyway so that we can chat from time to time like Don and I do.
