I ordered a new boat. A chap 310 signature. It will have twin 5.0 VPs with duo props and closed cooling.
It has the sliding backseat and reasonably equipped.
I went to the factory to see the boat on the line.
They showed me many different phases of the manufacturing process.
His is a pics of mine, not to descript but it was very cool to meet the people making my boat.

Awesome... Chap's QC has suffered some recently so maybe the workers having met you will pay a little more attention to details.

I am curious how you know about their quality?
I have a 2003 that has given me 10 years of good use.
Any problems have been Volvo related as far a make of the boat, I really have not had issues.
I will post a pic when delivered.

I had an older sig 30 with 4.3s and it was under powered I would have been very happy with the 5.0s! Then add the Duo props I would think he should be fine this said more power is really a bad thing. If it wasn't a big difference I would likely have spent the extra money.

Enjoy the new boat! When is it due in?

Jeff, what's the weight projected to be on that boat? I had a 31 formula that weighed 14k or so and had 6.2s that were just about right. I couldn't imagine 5.0s in that 31' boat so I second the vote for 5.7s if they are an option.

Good luck with the new boat. I also met the guys guys at the plant for my Formula and while I doubt that made them work on it any harder it helped me get a sense of where things were installed when I was looking at doing things after the fact.

Join the Chaparral Boats Owners forum and ask around. There has been a lot of complaints the past few years. Chap is a beautiful boat, don't get me wrong I am not bashing , just passing on the comments from recent new owners.

Phillbo is correct, there have been a rash of complaints from the QC side lately with Chaparral. Here is a link of a new 310 with his list of issues. It might help you once the boat is delivered to make sure they have been addressed. I love the boat, congrats.

Thanks, I have actually met this guy and he raved about his boat.
The boat weight is 12.6k.
I have a 280 which is the same size with 4.3's and it hit 44 mph on a gps.
I have been on an owners boat with 5.0 and there is plenty of power.
95% of the time it is just me and my wife, and this is stretching the budget a bit no 5.7's.
I expect some issues as any new boat will have, everyone I met raves about the dealers service.
I guess time will tell.
Delivery expected 6/28
Thanks for the well wishes.

Best of luck with the new boat. It's pretty cool you could visit the factory and see the hull in production.
