My wife came home with a couple of boxes of 3/4" oak flooring for the boat. She wanted to lighten it up inside. She said it was too dark. So, I ripped the carpet out and laid down the flooring.
It looks pretty good for someone how never worked with flooring. Nor am I a good carpenter.
Total weight was about 100 lbs. extra on the boat. But it makes the admiral happy.

Only one fingertip was lost in the new flooring event.
 
I have retired from the flooring business after a grueling 2 days of it.
 
Great Job. Was the floor pre-finished or did you clear it yourself. How was it laid down? With glue?
 
My wife came home with 2 boxes of 3/4" finished oak strips from Sam's. She got it
from the cheap section in the back corner of the store. It is tongue and groove.
We had some marine carpet stapled down. I ripped it up and removed the 3/4" plywood
and sanded it down smooth and clean. I then glued it down strip by strip. When dry,
I turned it over and trimmed the edges along the plywood. That is why those pieces
look straight. The steps and the small section in front of the fridge were different
animals. The part in front of the fridge is actually the scraps left over. It is
glued down to the fiberglass. I then just dropped the 2 sections I glued down on the
plywood into the boat.
 
Very nice. Being able to remove the plywood "floor" sounds like it made it easier.

I can't believe it looks like you still have the original seat cushions?
 
When we bought the boat 3 years ago, everything was original except the water
heater was removed and a generator was installed in it's place, and an a/c
was installed in the cabin. The ac/dc fridge was removed and an ac fridge
took it's place. Even the carpet was original. Those are the original cushions.
 
Looks great! Good job, too bad you don't want to get in the business.
 
I need a little trim work here and there, but my wife is very happy.
I don't have a camera right now to get a shot of the finger.
My sister has my camera on the coast, taking photos of her new house
being built.
I am going to a friend who is a plastic surgeon on Monday, he might
take a few pictures for me.
 
Nic looking job on the floor. What the heck did you do to your finger? Let us know as it is also a valuable lesson learned.
 
I was using an old 30something year old circular saw with a blade guard that gets stuck
now and then. When I picked up the saw, I hit the trigger(it doesn't have a trigger safety)
and my other hand was in the way of the spankin new blade. It was preventable if I wasn't
so cheap and would have bought a new saw. I just hate to throw something away that still
works.
It would have been a lot cheaper to buy a new saw than to pay the medical bills.
I got a new saw now. It has a good working blade guard, a trigger safety and the blade stops
when you let off the trigger.
 
Holy moly! With a circular saw I think you got off easy. Best of luck at the surgeons.
