I have a midnight blue hull and have always polished and waxed by hand. I use a polish first then wax after. What tool would you recommend for both procedures? An orbital or non-orbitsl buffer? Any manufacturer recommendations are welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the Makita BO6040 polisher.
"Makita makes the BO6040 Dual-Action Polisher, an ingenious polisher that works as a circular polisher or a dual-action polisher.
An orange knob on the Makita Polisher makes it possible to switch back and forth between dual-action and circular motion. Just be sure the machine is off when you make the switch. The speed control on the back of the machine allows you to operate at anywhere from 1600 to 5800 opm, no matter what mode you are in. Use the dual-action mode for gentle polish and wax application, and buffing. Use the circular motion for compounding and scratch removal. One machine does it all!

I agree with Gregory on the not using wax any more thing. I like Zaino. But others like Pro Polish. They seem to be very simular in how well they work and last. Which is very good and very long.

That looks like something worth checking out. The pro I used had a Makita but I don't know what model.
My efforts with an orbital polisher produced pretty poor results.
