Non-skid deck cleaner - does it remove wax

I typically wax the hull while the boat is on the trailer and then clean the non-skid deck with cleaner after its in the water. So the non-skid deck cleaner runs off the deck onto the waxed hull. Does it remove the wax on the hull?
 
How about of the sealants rather than waxes?
Most people can only wax their hull when its out of the water, yet they need to use non-skid deck cleaner a few times over the season.

Suggestions?
 
Good question about polymer sealants, don't know the answer! I usually only use non skid deck cleaner before I wax as it does strip it off. Doesn't seem to affect my hull much though as very little runs off there.
 
But I need to clean my non skid deck a few times over the summer and will wash a lot down with water some will run down the hull and I will not be able to wax the hull until boat is pulled in late Sept.
 
I scrub my boat weekly so the decks don't get to the point of needing non-skid cleaner. I only use it in the spring before I wax.
 
Clean the non-skid with a Mr Clean Magic Eraser and regular wax safe boat soap. Will make the non-skid look like new.
 
Or use acetone on a rag. This prevents runoff, removes dirt, grime and anything slippery and leaves the nonskid looking brand new! Never just pour acetone directly onto the nonskid.
 
I use regular boat soap that will not take off wax about 2 times a month and then follow it up with Woodywax about one time a month. Shines the non-skid like regular wax and is not slippery once dry. Everyone asks me what I do to make it shine. It is slippery until it dries, which only takes a few minutes if put on with a cloth.
 
I wax my hull with 3M cleaner wax and I wax my non skid with Aroura.
I clean the topsides around every 2 weeks with an environmentally
safe boat soap and a soft brush. It has never taken the wax off yet.

I sympathize with you. I too have battled the nonskid monster.

Never fails - I get her cleaned up in the spring, wax all the glass areas around the nonskid, and overnight the damn birds sh!t those flippin purple berries they eat onto my nonskid before the boat even leaves the storage area!!!! And anything harsh enough to clear the purple crap, wipes out my new wax job (really LOVE them birds). I have learned to limit where the harsher stuff touches, and dilute the runoff with a strong hosing ASAP so it doesn't strip the hull wax. Then touch up the spots you cleaned with wax after. I know it's not a perfect solution, but maybe this method can help you reduce some of the pain and anxiety.

I am going to test a new approach this year. I theorize spider/bird crap is able to stick harder into unprotected nonskid, requiring harsher stuff to remove it. Sheldon sent me some Aurora nonskid wax I have just applied to the nonskid on my swim platform (best it's looked for years - thx to Shel!). If Aurora holds up well without yellowing or peeling, and I don't have to get out the harsh stuff to clean the spider and bird crap, I will be buying stock in Aurora for the large nonskid areas.

Aurora will not peel or turn yellow. We use it every year at the beginning of the spring.
We do keep the boat in a covered shed. Don't know if that helps.
We think aurora is one of the best non skid waxes.
I have used a harsh cleaner before on Aurora and you can see where the wax was removed
real well.
 
Do you really consider non skid deck cleaner a harsh cleaner?
 
I use Rolloff. Does not seem to harm the wax and does a great job all over, including the bildge.
 
Let me first say that I am not associated with Aurora in any way.

That said, try Aurora Boat Scrub on the non-skid prior to applying the Sure Step. Apply with a scrub brush, then thoroughly rinse, and watch your non-skid look brand new again with minimal effort. This stuff works great. The product contains a harmless leaching agent intended for gelcoat use, and once you start, you will want to do the entire non skid area. Otherwise, the area you "touched up" will look new, and the rest will not.

Follow up with a Non Skid specific wax, and you won't be scrubbing for a while, as a rinse will do it.
 
Looking through a catalog recently I saw both non-skid deck cleaner and non-skid deck cleaner and protector. The one with the protector says it contains no harsh chemicals and the other one does not mention that.

So my original question again, would a non-skid deck cleaner and protector that contains no harsh chemicals remove wax from the hull if some ran onto it?

This was Starbrite.

I would consider the Aurora, but have not seen that in any stores in the upstate NY area.
 
I hate to agree with the Doc so many times in one week, but..YES...

I also use Aurora on my Non-Skid, and it is an awesome product...I find that the bird droppings wash off with the spray of a garden hose...
