The boot stripe on my vessel has to be repainted. The instruction on the paint say at least two coats are needed. After taping the original stripe and painting the first coat, do I remove the tape while the paint is wet, wait for the paint to dry and then retape for the second coat, or do I leave the original tape on for both coats? I am concerned that if I leave the tape on and remove after the second coat, the tape will lift the edge of the bootstripe.
