Haverstraw is a high class establishment. We prefer to keep the riff raff out.

It's too late for that.

Yeh, don't you talk about Bob like that or you will have problems with my 6.5 years old!!!!

Drove by today, Patsy's & SPBM have quite a few boats in the water!

At last count SPBM has 48 boats in. And there is water and electric on the docks and the pool is open, now only on the weekends. Things are looking up.

Out of 400 potential slips. Business is good!

The restaurant is looking good I tried to call for a reservation but I had trouble getting through.

What is the story with 48 boats? Is it because of slow owners or delay as results of Sandy?

Hay, give the guy some credit. They worked hard to repair from sandy. Pool is open with the new K Mart chairs, 48 boats is not bad from the ad that says 400 slips, and restaurant on premises is there, just doesn't say its open, or will ever be.
My friend said that there is even less water than before because Sandy brought more silt it, but after the dreging, there will be pleanty of water. The people from out of the area that read their ad will flock to the marina.

In all honesty I give them tremendous credit the fact that they are even open for business was a major accomplishment! I think they did a great job and should be commended for their efforts. This said the ad was a bit over the top and a bit funny! I wish them the best and hope that everything returns to normal and I mean this for every marina in the area heck region. I made reservations in Norwalk and learned the pool was destroyed in the storm and they don't have any plans to repair, this is a shame it was a great pool! There is damage like this everywhere yet another reason I'm happy to be a member of HM!

I was happy to see that many boats at SPBM & Patsy's. It's always good to see progress being made.

Now if Pennybridge could just get the pile driver to show up, all of the slips there would be full.

Let's hope the sun comes out soon and we can enjoy this weekend.

Probably a little bit of both. Many boats got wrecked and are not being replaced. Sandy soured many people on boating. They don't want to deal with their boat being caught in another storm. I see empty slips all over, including HM. Maybe next year will be better.

I hope so! Hate to see any business in such shape, hopefully next year they all get to max capacity or close to it.

A lot of people used Sandy as a reason to get out of boating. If their boats were destroyed, they took their insurance checks and moved on.

Face it, boating is an expensive passtime, and getting moreso every year. In this economy, it is a luxury that many cannot afford. When it costs over $1000 to fill up your tank, you think twice about the cost.

I don't see the number of boaters increasing anytime in the near future.

A lot of people have been dropping out for awhile now. Sandy just helped a few leave faster. Its not uncommon to see boats come and go. I have seen B dock change completely 3 times since I have been there. Now with the price of fuel and costs more people are dropping out. Look at the last few years. I don't think any of the marinas have been full. Haverstraw dropped there prices several years ago because they had so many small boat slips available. Unless we see a dramatic change in the economy I don't think we will see a large increase if any.

FWIW - Liberty Landing has very few empty slips and they are easiest the most expensive slips on the Hudson.

They have a decent team running the place, sorry no pool though.

Location, location location!!!

For all the rest YES it is very expensive and i agree unless your priorities are very clear (like mine, ours?) boating first it is very hard to keep the boat, so me and my wife have an agreement if it gets worse for us $$$ we sell the house and move aboard :-)

SPBM has the same amount of water then before the storm. My boat drafts alot and i am still coming in an out ar the same times I have always done. And didn't your friend go to HM so he has not docked his boat at SPBM this season. And he was next to my slip.

I can verify what Todd said. My fishfinder shows the same depth at the same tide level as before Sandy.
