Polishing/Waxing Next to Nonskid

The boat is a Tiara with fine nonskid on the foredeck and hardtop. The smooth part adjacent to the nonskid is polished and waxed once or twice a season. It is very difficult to do the detailing without getting a little polish or wax on the nonskid. This is hard to remove and attracts dirt. Anybody out there run into this and, if so any good advice on how to prevent the problem or remove the wax from the nonskid without spoiling the fresh detailing?
 
Blue painters tape.........

If you have a Porter-Cable 7424 you can get a brush attachment which will clean non-skid in a hurry, easier than washing dishes!
 
sbw1, I thought I was the only one that had that problem. I've just lived with it. mannmade's idea should work. How about a rag dipped in straight ammonia and carefully wipe along the non-skid area? Ammonia will remove wax !
 
I used Aurora Sure Step from the gunwale up on my 2465 Regal because I couldn't be sure big arse feet would always be on the nonskid. The shine was not that much different than the hull side but it stuck your feet where you planted them.

I hear Woody Wax does the same thing but I have no actual verification.
 
This just goes to prove that the more wax on the fiberglass, the more black streaks! Look at a boat that's never waxed........no streaks!!!!
 
Mannmade, Have you used painter tape in this way before? Doesn't the polisher take it off? SBW

A friend tried Woody Wax on his Tiara and it was more trouble than it was worth and he had to keep reapplying it several times in the season.

I'm thinking this could be a little stinky and hard to manage.
 
Wax to within an inch or so of the N/S and quit worrying about it.
 
We perfectionist couldn't live with that 1" of unwaxed portion next to the n/s.
