Hi all,

We have navy blue fenders (the ones with the black ends) and I'm wondering what I should put on them to keep them pliable and last longer? they're nice and clean and all and I don't want to use those "sleeves" I've seen but I didn't know if an armorall like product could be put on them and if so, what do folks recommend?

thanks!

NOT Armorall. It bakes out the plastic. That is not from me, that is from a number of pro detailers. WRT to the fenders, I first clean them with a mild soap (not detergent) like Woolite or Dreft and a Scotchbrite or Magic Eraser. I then use Malco PB2 to preserve them. I don't know what it has in it. It is a silicone emulsion in a water base. Leaves them with a soft finish. All rashes seem to hose off with a little help from a rag. I re-apply the PB2 about once per month just because the fenders are in the elements.

HTH.

I've used Mop N Glow with good results.

This season I tried Meguiar's vinyl and rubber conditioner. They look good but I can't vouch for how long they'll stay that way.

KIDa, Dave.........WRT to the fenders ????????

I have a pair that are 1983 Vintage. They got pretty ugly so I dyed them with Black vinyl dye (same stuff discussed earlier this week that also works on vinyl seats) They still hold air and need a touch up. Don't think those things will ever wear out.

Yea, they made QUALITY back then! I miss the "good old days".......

These are clean and in good shape so I was just looking for something to protect them. Thanks for the tips on the Mop and Glow or 303. I'll give them a shot. Still not in the water yet because of all this stupid rain. I just don't see the point of putting it in and letting it sit and get dirty with weeks of rain going on.

I have a couple of black fenders that are about 8 years old. I scrub with Mary Kate deck cleaner and after drying apply FUTURE floor wax.
They still look like new.

Don't use FUTURE on white fenders! It will turn them yellow......use ammonia to strip the stuff. Don't ask me how I know this........

How many times did you reapply before cleaning ?
I have 6 white fenders that have had Future applied to them after a good cleaning that also still look like new after 3 years.

Now that you mention it Jack, they are a bit yellow. I'm just sayin----
