Purple-brownish stains on vinyl

For some very strange reason my 391 has started getting really nasty purple-brownish-blackish colored stains on the cockpit vinyl and the helm seat.

I have studied the issue online and many sources seem to think the stains are caused by microbes and bacteria growing on the vinyl.

Just curious if any other BE owners have had a similar problem and had any suggestions.

The stains do NOT come off with normal cleaners or mildew removers. They are very stubborn. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
 
Had a similar problem on our Regal with pink mold. Went with vinyl dye via a sprayer and not only did all of the vinyl look brand new the pink stuff never returned. You can keep the same color or even change it. The stuff I used was a dye, not a paint.
 
Also had a simlar problem. it seemed the sun would clear up the issue but when we closed her up for the week and came back so did the stains. This past winter i took the seats home and removed the vinyl from the seat bottoms (plywood). on the inside of the vinyl was mold but interestly not in the seat foam. I used Starbright Mildew Stain remover. I used a lot - multiple treaments over multiple days. You could see it clear up quickly. I restapled the vinyl back on and this season it looks good.

John- do you recall who made the vinyl dye ?
 
It was a company up in Canada I think. It's been a bunch of years ago. I just tried a quick Google search and it looks like any place that handles auto paint should be able to help.
 
Any chance you have been wearing a new pair of blue jeans that got a little wet? I had a pair of jeans the made a real mess of you seats before I noticed the dye was coming out of the jeans.

NAPA usually carries vinyl spray dyes as do most automotive paint supply stores.
 
Chlorox clean up spray with bleach cleaned up my vinyl seats really well and got rid of those purplish brownish spots.
