OK, so my Eisenglass is shot to varying degrees. Combination of 4 years on the water and some kind of resin or tar from trees has resulted in the need to redo the glass on my 391.

As we all know, the cost of having this done is quite high. I downloaded some videos from a site (not sure if I can mention it) and the process did not look that hard, so I made the jump.

I purchased a semi commercial sewing machine, a few rolls of Strata, all the zippers, thread, etc I need and jumped into the canvas making business, at least for one customer (me).

Wednesday night, I gathered all the panels from my boat and brought them home.

Last night, I started on the project, starting with the smallest, and therefor easiest, piece. It took me about 75 Minutes to do the first piece, and I knocked down 3 more after that, each taking less time, but each around 45 minutes, start to finish.

I have about 10 more panels to go, and smileys will be coming up soon, but we have begun!

millsan1, what David is saying is that you have to be a registered member of meridianyachtowners to be able to see the pics on that site. I registered myself to view...looks good!

The local canvas shop installs the new glass over the old and then cuts out the old. This is to maintain the size and shape of the opening. Is that how you are doing yours?

Ah, sorry about that. I can't figure out how to upload pics here.
Yes, I am doing it the same way. The regular windows are very easy. Smileys are more work, but still not too bad.

Like anything else you are new to, each one I am doing is better than the previous. I am learning as I go, but it is going well. I am done with 7 panels, but ran out of Strataglass, as I had planned on only doing the smileys, but decided to do whole hog, so gotta order some more.

I put the completed panels up and I really like the way it looks.

Upload your pics to http://tinypic.com and cut and paste the IMG code in your post. You can resize your pics to fit on message boards during the upload. It's easy and fast and works on all the message boards that I follow.

OK, so here pics of of the panels before I worked on them, after and with some installed. Thanks for the tip on TinyPic
