What's best for removing the Beard/tough scum that forms at the water line? It's even tough to reach since it's under my swim platform. Brushing alone is not enough?

I use a product called FSR. Boatfix carries it. It works extremely well on any stains on fiberglass gelcoat.

I have the same problem with my waterline. I believe this yr. I am going to have the waterline raised so I dont have to deal with it anymore.
I can reach most of the scum with a brush if extended. I do not use any cleaners. I find it more difficult to get the scum off if there is no wax on the hull. Most cleaners will take the wax off and then it is extremely difficult to remove it. I try and brush it once a week so it doesnt get too thick. Under the swim platform is tough. When my boat was up for the winter I actually painted the waterline up to the bottom of the swim platfor. That seemed to take most of the problem away.

Toilet bowl cleaner. I use the kind with the crooked spout!

High pressure water. My boat is on a lift making it easier to access under the swim platform.

I second Sno-bowl toilet cleaner. Removes rust marks as well. $1 at Big Lots
