As some of you know I'm extremely fussy when shining the bull hull and the white gelcoated areas on my boat.

As always I completely de-water spot the boat, this year like last, I used Ducky and I am sold on it.

In what was a new twist I bought a Porter Cable random orbital to compliment the standby Makita. And I liked the results.

Because I have done heavy compounding the past few years the hull was in good shape.

The key is to have it smooth, no water spots or rough grit, that will hold water spots and dirt after waxing and will cause micro scratches when buffing.

This year I used 3M 06070 spot finishing compound to prep the hull prior to waxing. On my boat I tried the 'A Glaze Sealants' the results remain to be seen. On my buddies I also used the 06070 followed up with an application of Meguires swirl remover and polish and an application of Meguires pure wax. This left a deep and brillant shine.

On the blue I used a yellow foam pad for the 06070, I used a white foam pad with the polish and the black pad for the wax. I removed the residue from each step with a microfibre cloth.

On the white topsides instead of the 06070 I used Presta Cut Gel-Coat compound and on more oxidized areas I used the Presta super cut. Once again I used the yellow then the white and then the black pads.

Note: one pass with any of the processes may not be enough, be prepared to go back and do it again.

Your results may vary............
