Rust Stain on Isinglass

Armada 210 Scratch Remover and elbow grease. BTW, are you sure its a rust stain? Burn marks where the vinyl was against metal will look like rust. Either way I treat them the same way. After buffing out the stain clean the vinyl with clean water and a mild car wash soap. Rinse well with clean water, dry well and follow with Armada 210 Polish.

Wow, never thought it could be a burn mark. Just assumed it is rust. Have to take a closer look. It is up against a steel pole that supports the bimini. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion, I will try Armada.

Yep, I'll bet you a beer its a burn mark. The bimini support is likely stainless steel so rust shouldn't be an issue. As the stainless heats up in the summer sun it will leave a burn mark on the vinyl that looks like rust. After you get it cleaned, buffed and polished you may want to consider covering your bimini supports with a soft material to protect the vinyl. If you are on a tight budget head to your local home improvement store and get some foam pipe insulation. Usually 1/2" is the right ID. Cut it to length and wrap your supports with it where the supports are in contact with the vinyl. If you have a few extra "boat bucks" you can spring for a product called SunSox. They are made just for this purpose and come in an assortment of colors so you can coordinate with your boat colors.

Absolutely, it is a burn mark, no way to remove it.

Depends on severity of burn. You can remove light burns with automotive polishing compound. Can't hurt it; all it can do is lighten it somewhat if it doesn't remove it. I did it years ago. I now put the SOX over the pipes. Can use ugly plumbing foam insulating tubes but hey it works.

Where can I purchase the "sunsox'? I tried Boat fix
Thanks

ocean,
Not wanting to step on any toes; won't mention several suppliers. Just Google, SunSox. You'll come up with several sources. $17.95 for 72" in several colors.

I purchased some 1/4 inch insulation trim with adhesive back and placed small pieces about an inch long where needed. Most of those are still in place after 10 yrs, but it is easy to replace any that require it. Much cheaper the SunSox and looks so much better the the foam tubes. You have to know they there to see them.
