Sat TV Anti-Depression

Dominic,

My letter were 7" tall and the cost was approximately $2,850.00 It change each day based on the euro pricing. I had them used vinyl lettering on top. The letters can be made with stainless as well, however the cost goes up dramatically. For my letters with stainless the cost would have been close to $6,900.00. I could not justify spending that amount. If I owned a 1.5-3 million dollar yacht, then maybe.

Hope this helps.

Bob,

preciated. I found a german yachtlights website and the lettering looks just the same as on the site from Florida which I believe was yachtsigns. Anywho that is approx the quote they gave me for stainless single word name and as you mentioned, too much for our boats. I had the local guy here make a sign which was cut with a flojet from stainless, around $1,200 and have blue LEDs shine on it. The LEDs are not hooked up yet but I am shure it is not going to look as great as yours. Yours looks awesome.

Thanks Dominic.

I was shocked at the cost of stainless, but I guess that you need to pay for the sheet of stainless to make the letters.

When your name is complete, please post some pictures.

Bob,

My wife loves your lighted boat lettering.

Well my custom mount is finally on the UPS truck and should get here next week. It has taken a long time. I called Carver about a wire chase diagram but they were non-responsive as was my dealer. I think I may need about 1 foot more cable for the radar given the tilt of the new mount. Did you need your cable(s) to stretch? I don't know if there is a a service loop but I did not see one. Did you have a cable chase diagram for the sat tv cable? How did you run it into your cabinet? Did you need to go run below deck and come up?

Thanks Bob,

Roger

Hi Roger,
Thanks for your wifes compliments. It is greatly appreciated.

With respect to the cable for your radar, you should have enough. I had at least 20 ft of extra cable looped behind my outside refridge. I was able to pull more cable from the loop.

I ran the cable along the side of the gunnel and behind my electrical panel. My stereo system was below my electrical panel.

I ran my RG-6 from the stereo cabinet to the forward berth. It was easy to snake to the forward berth. Use the fiberglass 3 ft straight snakes' that you can attach to each other. They are great for straight runs.

Thanks for the reply Bob. The mount came in today. Looks good. The light mounting screw holes seem too small but I have not been to the boat to check. Thanks for the info. May start install this weekend.

Roger

Bob et al,

Finally finished my install. Very pleased with look and tv performance. Pictures soon!

Roger

Roger,
glad to hear you completed your project. Looking forward to see the pictures. Did you add high def receivers to your system?

Yea stuck in the cabin :). Glad you like it. I am pleased. Thanks for all your help Bob!

Bob,
Good job with the addtion. What does the dome do? Is it just cosmetic?
Jim

The dome houses the sat dish, servo motors, and control elextronics and protects them from the elements.

I am curious, does the radar pick up the pole?
You would think the metal pole or TV dish would intefere with the radar.

Also where did you get the double mount from?

CurrentSea,
The radar does not pick up the pole on my system. I have a Raymarine unit. No Problems. I had PYI custom make my mount last winter. I created the design and PYI and produced the CAD drawing for me to review. I also supplied them with my lights that I wanted custom fitted. You can see the drawing on page 1 of this thread and a link to the finished drawing.

That's a lot of $$$$. It sure would put a dent in my beer money this summer. I think the only way I could afford a sign like that is to take out a mortgage on it.
