Well, I got sick of scrubbing and buffing to remove some stubborn waterline discoloration. Yes, I used scotch-brite in a small spot- worked great. It removes the stain very easily. But it put some light scratches in the gelcoat. I then used a buffer w/ cleaner wax and didn't change much - still light sratches and a little dull.
Any advice other than NOT to use Scotchbrite?
Thanks all-
Dave

That ultrafine wet sandpaper, 1200 or 1500 grit.

With a little soap or spray cleaner, you can remove stains with same, less damaging than ScotchBrite. It's still drastic, though. You're still sanding, after all.

I think if you ultrafine wet sand it, then maybe compound/polish, you can make this sad event go away.

Use "The Works" bathroom cleaner for fiberglass. Removes all kinds of uglies from the boat.

As for your dull spot: Get some polishing compound

if you get some compound (3m superduty) you should be able to rub those scrathes out. polish may work, but with compound is an absolute
