A guy I've shark fished with a few times recently got bit by a shark he had just released. Evidently it was a smaller (under 30lb) blacktip or spinner that he landed quickly. After removing the hook he released the still "green" shark and it quickly spun around and bit him on the foot. I got word today that he had a shredded tendon in his foot. The surgery went good and he is in a boot for awhile. Be careful releasing any "toothy" critter.....

Deep sea fishing taught me that things can get quite exciting when a large sea predator jumps the hook, into the cockpit.

Can you dance? :D

One of my friends does a lot of shark fishing (catch and release) and the same thing happened to a fella he was fishing with.

Not a toothy critter but the first time we caught a fair sized ling/cobia we learned the hard way not to bring it aboard 'fresh'. Fortunately, no personal injuries but several broken boat parts later it was subdued and placed on ice.
