If the government shuts down, should not our tax liability be cut?

Too funny. . .Tea Party guys on here. Same ones who were convinced Mitt was winning the last election right up to the end. Face it there is no GOP. There is TEA and then a couple of factions of more moderate republicans. . . all more concerned about the future of their sorry assed reelection than the country. Said my piece. Don't intend to debate it here. I'll come back after the gop has caved and see what excuse this Republican Boater Ed web site has to offer for an excuse. ps. Why won't your fearless leader of the house bring it to the floor for a vote ????? BECAUSE the TEA PARTY has him ****ting in his pants, votes are there to end this so you can quit whining about parks and golf courses.

Talk about having no clue. Guess who controls the House (hint, it's the GOP).

If you would take the time to educate yourself about the Tea Party you would learn that they are the ONLY ones who are concerned about the country. The Tea Party Patriots’ mission is to restore America’s founding principles of Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government and Free Markets.

Why won't your fearless leader of the Senate bring votes to fund the NIH, open monuments, fund parks, etc... to the floor of the Senate? Why won't your fearless president speak to the Republicans in an effort to end the slimdown?

So "fiscal responsibility" means not paying the bills you ALREADY ran up. We probably wouldn't be in this mess if the GOP hadn't authorized all those wars on the credit card.

"Funding" the parks and everything else won't make much difference if the money's not there, and it won't be without either raising the debt limit or raising taxes. Pick one, or both.

The GOP only thinks they run the House. The tea party runs the GOP, with help from the 1%.

Talking point # 1 from the current occupant of the white house.

Guess what, Obama has been in charge for five years, I guess HE's the one funding his wars on a credit card.

Talk about drinking the liberal Kool Aid

Uh, who started those wars and who OK'd them? Without that, Obama wouldn't be there.

How many of the people on here get at least part of their income from the Gubmint?

Right.

Boehner has painted himself and the party into a corner, and the moderate republicans are shaking their heads wondering WTH do we do now Mr wussy scared of T Party Boehner ? I love the cry baby commercial BTW, reminds me of you TEA partiers on here. And Mr HOGAN, Liberal Kool Aide ? Hell your ilk are on cocaine or some hallucinogenic , just like you were in the last election. (I broke my own rule and came back here before the republicans find a way to squirm out from under the Tea Party hostage crisis) At the end of the day, Republicans will cave, blame it all on the president and how they voted to save the nation and are the martyrs. (more cry baby) Boehner will either resign (to save face) or be removed as speaker and a more moderate replacement put in place. Next election republicans will loose seats and the tea partiers party will be waning. You boys better find a new battle cry before next election, this one isn't playing out so well . . . .

Iraq & Afghanistan started under Bush, authorized by Democrats & Republicans. We are now out of Iraq.

Libya started under Obama, authorized by no one.

Attacks in Somalia started under Obama, authorized by no one.

Arab spring and subsequent killings of tens of thousands of civilians started under Obama, authorized by no one.

Syria, almost started by Obama, authorized by no one.

Notice a pattern?

If only you could put together a coherent sentence, I'd be able to respond...

Look how well "moderate Republicans" like McCain have fared...

Bob and Willie - I do have a few questions? You are both for Oweblamercare? You are both for going even further in debt with this nation? You are both for spending more money to "shut down" open air parks than it costs to do nothing? You are both for unlimited spending? You are both for having the government tell you how/when to take care of yourself?

While I only know one person personally that was able to get in the AFCA system and register, he wound up declining to sign up. He is a liberal much like you two. Or as some would say, "An Oweblamer bootlicker". Well he is not to happy right now. You see he lost his medical insurance that his company was providing. They have dropped that as a benefit for their employers. He thought nothing of it as he had Oweblamercare to fall back on. He makes roughly $70k a year. Oweblamercare is going to cost him (plus his wife and 12 y/o daughter) $602 a month and he has an annual copay of $9500. Does not include meds although I am unclear if that means the copay does not include them or the plan overall does not. There are several other restrictions but he was becoming so agitated while telling me I made him stop for fear he would have a stroke. Based on mine and my wife's last year of medical care and what pricing per visit and test I could find online, we would have only made it up to $5800 for our copayment. And we still would have paid the what ever it would cost a month. So he is not going to take it. He is going to pay the "tax" instead.

Do you really think the majority of the population is going to sign up? Do you think they want to?

You forgot Benghazi.

Actually I'm NOT for going further into debt; I'm for raising the revenue to pay the bills. However any tax increases even if passed TODAY wouldn't make any difference between now and next week, so the debt limit still needs to be increased. We can pay down the debt later and I'm all for it.

I'm not for "Oblamerscare" either; I'm for Single Payer and cost controls, neither of which are in the ACA. Why aren't they? Because the medical industry and their GOP pawns wouldn't have it. Still, the ACA is better than nothing, which is what a lot of Americans had before. They simply couldn't afford it on what they could bring home from their minimum-wage jobs. Does that make them any less hard-working or less-deserving than you?

How many business-owners on here actually pay their employees' health premiums or pay them enough to where they can buy their own? I'll bet they could actually SAVE money with Oblamerscare if they did the math. As for the rest of you...

Yeah there probably are a few "welfare queens", but over the years I've known a whole lot more Republicans who played the loophole game to avoid paying taxes and/or get a subsidy.

I love how you blame the GOP, when they were shut out of the having any input into the ACA, and they all voted against the law. But somehow in your twisted, GOP hating mind, you find a way to blame them.

And talking about "loopholes" what about all the one's Obama used so that he only paid 18% federal tax last year.

You really lose any bit of credibility you might have had by spewing the liberal talking points that MSNBC and Obama have brain washed you with.

That was more than I paid, but then he made more money, too. How much did Romney pay?
