Yep, and I choose to pay and support three or four other boating forums. None of those are dying a slow and rather pathetic death. ATC has the sad distinction of having three threads with activity today, one of them this one and a total of a whopping seven threads this week. That's just plain pathetic. The owner of the site appears to have written it off and do something between nothing and very little about any issues. If he doesn't care I'm not feeling overly compelled to re-up. I did for several years but chose to stop as the site entered a seeming death-spiral with nothing being done to slow it. Now I just check back periodically to see if things have changed. They haven't.
I don't care if you pay your share or not. What does get me spun up is comments like Double D's original statement about the advertising. Another slur against the site by someone who contributes very little.(not talking money here). If you don't like the site Have a Day, why do you even bother? People like you have been predicting the death of this site since it's inception. News flash-----STILL HERE.
Greg......THANK YOU for reassuring my point. I've supported this site since 2002 and contributed quite a bit.... and only recently decided not to. Its my choice whether you like it or not doesn't matter to me. I happen to agree with the comments made by HaveADay Im sure like many others that no longer contribute as they use to.
Maybe you should take this thread into NBR so the paying RO's get their moneys worth.

As long as STILL HERE means the ip and port is answered and the site is served up, sure, it's still here. Sometimes it takes upwards of 30 seconds to be still here. If you mean there's an active community... not so much. The most active conversations in the last year have been debates about the viability of the site. It has a long past and so it's too bad to see it appear to have short future. If you honestly believe a site with this activity level has much of a future I'm not interested in trying to change your mind.

HaveADay, other than posting complaints, have you posted about your boating activities ( including your winter plans ). Contributions are what makes this site, and I am not talking about gold bullion.
The fact is that there remains a wealth of available knowledge here, and all it takes is a question.
If you are not participating ( constructively ) on such things, then you may be part of the problem.
Just a thought, perhaps there are other reasons.
But your starting a thread relating to how you handle boats vs winter might actually be an interesting and informative thread.
I invite you to personally increase the activity.

Well said Bill. For example, I asked a question a few weeks back about the best way to winterize the city water hookup. Got 49 replies, 1600 views and actually changed my time tested water system winterization technique because of the information I learned. Doesn't appear to be a dead or dying site. DD--can't find a picture of somebody with thier head stuck up a particular anatomic orifice to reciprocate.

Don, just tested your claim that each time a topic is viewed, the read count goes up by 3. What's bogus is your claim. I clicked on some old topics, and guess what? The count only went up by one. what's the point in throwing in false claims?
