Spring Boaters Fling

What a great weekend! As others have said, it was great putting faces and real names to the screen names and the weather couldn't have been better. The trip home was a windy one with ~2 foot wind waves in the San Joaquin. I hope that we can all do it again sometime soon; maybe an raft out at one of the many anchorages. Many thanks to all that attended and to those who couldn't, I have to say you missed out!
 
I'm back home after an hour and one-half trip from VWM to BI. Lots of wind and chop, so I frequently had to slow down and not pound my poor boat to death. Lil Guy, my crew/boat dog, did just fine all the way. He just laid down on the helm seat beside me and dosed as we bounced along. He didn't even mind the occasional cool spray that blew through the forward screen.

After I got back to the dock, it was time to straighten up the boat, load the car and drive the 2 1/2 hr to home. It made for a long day, but I'm sure I'll sleep well tonight!

I had a wonderful time and will do it again in a heart beat! Just name the time and place. Thanks to rubyray for coming up the Spring Fling idea and kalan2000 for helping with some of the details. Everyone who couldn't make it for at least a few hours really missed a great, relaxing time with very enjoyable people. Better try to make it to the next one.

Thanx Al for your help too. Cant wait ta get ya back!! Litle bit o' chop but made it back safe and sound. Little girl Lucky wasnt too sure about all them waves though... Name the place and time for the next one. Anchors Away!!!
 
It was really great to actually meet everyone and shake hands. Nice to be able to put faces with screen names now.
I was thinking about you all about 5:30am when the wind picked up at Tiki and I started getting the wind chop lapping on my hull right beneath my head.
Hope everyone made it home safe and sound and without incident.

I think by boat Jim and his brother from Oxbow on Comfortably Numb probably traveled the furthest. Total travel distance from home to boat to VWM, I bet I have that record since my home is in the Sierras above the Gold Country.
 
If I'd have known there would be recognition for the farthest away, I might have considered boating in from Pittsburg. Well, probably not since I could only stay the one day.

Shirt didnt fit so I took it from the table and placed it onto "Comfortably Numb". It is a nice shirt too. Maybe Jim is wearing it since he "had" to stay another nite on the boat due to the winds.. He also traveled the furthest, from Nevada...So he may also be layering his clothing too cause it sure is cold in dem dar hills...

Yesterday I was wondering how you were doing in my old slip. Kind of reminded you of labor day weekend?
 
I to enjoyed the event. It was a pleasure. There were some really nice boats there.
 
We had a great time. I'm glad no one had a hard time returning in the wind. Dinner at Garlic Bros. was tasty but I was still tasting it on Sunday morning.

Those lazy $astard$ at Connection Slu Bridge finally opened the bridge after I had tooted 5 or six times with several minutes between horn blasts and when I called on Ch 9. The guy opened it about ten feet for my boat to squeak through in the wind. Too tight for comfort, but I managed. They sure have developed an attitude. Thanks for your advice over the phone!
 
Flutter - I come from Gardnerville, NV so I have you beat by 1 1/2 hours! Just did some math - check this out for my little Volvo 140's. This si the first long trip since adding the webber carbs and electronic ignition. We took 2 Hr 45 Min to get there, heading against a tide but no wind. It took 3 1/2 hrs to get back - going with the tide but a 20-25 mph head wind all the way, which is hard with these little engines, but no problems. I cruised at 3000-3500 rpm,(they can be run at 5500 rpm all day)and probably 5-6 mph. I used 22 gallons total - 3.68 GPH! Anyone know how many miles it is by water from Oxbow to the Moke, to San Joaquin, 14 mile slough to VWM? I suspect iw would have been a bunch better without the wind because my little 32 sits on top of the water and only draws 2.5 feet so it is especially suceptable to wind, not current.

I didn't have any problems at connection slough, but I did at Zuckerman a couple months back. The tender insisted that I could make it under when I knew I would be about a foot short. After having a standoff for a few minutes he grudgingly raised the bridge.

It seems like bridge tenders view the winter months as their vacation and although they are working, they only do it if they really have to.
 
I wont forget to email to all the link for the photobucket pictures, but right now Iam LOOKING FOR MY WALLET. The last time I used it was at Garlic Bros, I didn't notice it missing until this morning. I thought I had all my keys and wallet in the boat, but its no were to be found. Isn't this fun, first time in my life I had lost a wallet, Mary has lost her purse a few times in the years, and I have been able to give her hell for many of years for it. Guess I cant rag on her anymore. Well back to the search.

I FOUND IT.............My wallet that is. You wouldn't believe were it was. Yesterday the neighbor came over and asked if I could disc about an acre of his land so he could do some planting. So I took my old 9n over and turned it over for him. Tonight I went over to finish up, and I stopped to talk to him and was standing by the front tire looking back, and there it was between the diff. and the brake arm. It fell out of my pocket. I don't know how it stayed there. The best part is I can still be able to rag on Mary for losing hers.
I emailed the pictures to the ones that wanted them, I hope it worked. First time I have done it with Photobucket.
