A group of 11 of us went there last night for dinner. We had to wait a while for a table, which we expected. The place is MUCH cleaner than it used to be, all the spider webs are gone, and it's re-painted.

Once we sat down, other than the "England Clam Chowder" and salad (for Gina), all we ordered were wings and burgers.

The food was very good, but the service was intolerably SLOW!!! It took over 2 hours to get our burgers, then they completly forgot to bring one of them, so she had to wait another 15 minutes to get hers.

The excuse was the the grill was "too small" so they could only cook a couple of burgers at a time! How long does it take to cook a freakin burger????

The waitress completely disappeared, instead of trying to make our experience bearable. They did take off a round of drinks and the "late burger" - but they just lost quite a few customers for the summer!
 
Well, you can get a $25 gift certificate for the Hudson Water Club for only $16 and change, but I can't tell you where because it will be deleted. Two hours for burgers and wings is intolerable...anywhere.
 
No, she said a long wait for the table, not the food. We had people come in after us that got there table after us and still left before us with there bellies full. There seems to be a problem with the cooking area that does need to be resolved if they want to make a go of it. The wait for 10 burgers was way too long. This is my second time of waiting an excessive amount of time for a burger as I had posted in a previous post last month.

As Mike said they have done a great job of cleaning the building up, now just the service needs to improve. It will be awhile before I go back...
 
I guess you guys down there, Are not as laid back as we are up here.
They were just too busy to handle the crowd that was there Right ???.

Heres us waiting 1 1/2 hrs for finger food.
No one got upset we just drank more while we waited. :)

No, by the time we sat down, the place was empty, some people came in after us, got their food, ate it, and left before we even got served.

We had no problem with the wait FOR the table, it was the 2 hour wait for the burger that was inexcusable.
 
Did anyone say anything to the management ??
I would of gotten afew more rounds of free drinks out of that deal then.
 
Yes, I spoke to one of the owners who had the same lame "grill too small" excuse - she did not offer us anything, it wasn't until she physically brought the check did she tell us that she had comped us the drinks and one burger.

The place has potential, they need to work out the kinks. I don't see how anyone can justify a 2 hour wait for hamburgers.

It's not "getting to me", I just think people should know about experiences we have at different restaurants. I'm not telling anyone not to try it, if they do, I hope they have a better experience than we did...
 
Yea, when you order fast food, you expect it to be---- fast food. Last night three of us dined at a local waterfront place, I had Panned Speckled Trout with Freemason Sauce (light cream sauce with fresh shrimp, Jumbo lump crabmeat, mushrooms, green onion) on angel hair pasta, wife had Shrimp Diane on Rice, daughter had a shrimp poor=boy. No wait, great service, total bill with 20% tip $65.00 (US). All seafood was fresh from the Gulf of Mexico, despite what CNN & Fox say.
 
We got talked into having dinner there tonight and I agree the wait for the FOOD is unbelievably long. I'm sorry but restaurants have to be more than just good food. The place was pretty empty, and it should not take more than an hour to cook up some pasta, fry a few clam strips and make a grilled chicken salad.

A double thumbs down from us.
 
I've been there 3 times so far and food was good and the wait was not that bad and I went on night when it was full. I guess they will have good and bad nights.
 
Keep in mind that large parties/groups are more difficult to accomodate..one server trying to make sure everyone gets their drinks and food at the same time is much more challenging then dealing with 4 tables of 3. Given that the entire party ordered basically the same thing which probably resulted in a single chef and a bottleneck in the kitchen. Granted management should be on top of all this, but things happen.
 
How do you explain our table of 4 with an almost empty restaurant having to wait over an hour for pasta and a salad? A member of our party owned/ran a catering hall for 20 years and he made the observation that there were more wait-staff than customers.

They did fix the place up very nice inside which is good because you need things to look at and talk about while waiting a long time to eat!
 
Mike, You have no luck with hamburgers... Better off grilling them yourself on the boat.

They probably had to order out for that stuff, can't blame the other restaurant for not having the order done in time....
 
John is part of the restaurant and is a good guy, I remember when he was a member he use to do a free breakfast for the members to thank everyone for going D's. I'll still go to the restaurant, I'm not in a rush when I go and it gives my daughter more time to color :)
