Dave,
I noticed that you came down through Steamboat instead of the Sacramento river. Is that faster?
Is the water as deep as in the Sacramento?

Steamboat doesn't have as much water as the Old Sacramento, but there are fewer 5 mph zones and its a much prettier ride. We never saw less than 4 feet of water below the hull. There are getting to be more 5 mph zones on Steamboat, but I still prefer it if I'm heading down to the Bay. If I'm going back to my slip in Willow Berm, I take the Sacramento to Walnut Grove and then go down through Georgiana Slough (another pretty ride) to the Mokelumne.
