Our old bowrider (actually was new when we bought it) was easily polished and waxed with a micro-polish and Meguiars Flagship using a random-orbital. Last weekend I got very good results below the rubrail on our new to us Cruisers with the same products and buffer. However, I realized that I need to step the process up a notch for some sun faded areas above. I'll probably have to go to a rotary polisher/buffer on these areas, right? Also, what polish, compound, etc. would you all recommend on the sun faded areas to bring back the shine? Thanks in advance.

X2 on the Buff Magic. It's a very forgiving product to use and does an excellent job.

If that doesn't do the job, you might have to step up to a more aggressive compound.

+3 on Buff Magic. Do 2 or 3 foot sections at a time. I spread it on by hand with a foam pad as if I were applying wax and then work the product with the buffer and a white wool pad until it's almost gone. The abrasive gets finer and finer as you work it in. after the buffer, I remove any residual with a terry cloth towel. Waste of time with an orbital buffer.

Boatyard used 3M Fiberglass Restorer and followed up with Rejex wax on our boat.
Very shiney.

Rejex is a polymer polish, not a wax. I want to try it, but have 2 bottles of Pro Polish. Maybe next year.

+4 on the Buff Magic :). Just left the marina after hitting the faded areas with Buff Magic. Thanks for the tip, that stuff worked well. I followed it with a coat of Meguiars Flagship Wax...she's shinning now. Thanks again.
