As a long time user of 3M and Collinite products I was a bit suspicious of the claims from the cult of Buff Magic. I, however, am drawn to the new and unique.
I have a 1988 Sea Ray 340 Express, very clean for it's age and cleaned and waxed to within an inch of it's life on a regular basis.
This year I decided to try the Buff Magic / Pro Polish system, mostly as a result of this forum.
Polishing:
Dewalt buffer with 3M wool pad at 1900 rpm's with Buff Magic
Results:
One solid pass on the hull gave it the shine that two passes with compound and polish produced in the past.
The product was very easy to use and produced an outstanding shine and uniform surface.
Pro Polish:
First coat was hand applied with foam applicator and removed with micro fiber polishing cloth
Second coat was hand applied with foam applicator and removed with Porter-Cable Dual Action polisher on speed level 4 using McGuiars foam polishing pad.
Results were very impressive with an even, swirl free, finish.
The interesting part of the process was the ease of use. I consider myself pretty good with a buffer and I found that the skill level to work with this product is amazingly low.
I would recommend letting the Pro Polish get really dry before removing. I found that you cannot let it get too dry , unlike wax. The Pro Polish came off easily and left a very smooth even finish.
I will report back as the season wears on and the durability of the product is tested against the weather.
My first impressions of the products are very favorable.
