Trojan 440 Upgrades, Fixes and Ideas

We were up to 17 at one point, we had probably close to 30 in and out the whole weekend.

Very funny Bill. Was a great weekend. It turned out the picture was used on iboats and I Love Boating FB pages as well. We are sooooooooo famous!

Love it great ad!

BTW I ordered new cockpit upholstery, I'm having all of the seats redone over the Winter. I can't wait to see it finished!
Not much left on my wish list it must be time to sell:)

I need to get that done as well. Other stuff on my todo list for this winter though. It will have to wait until next year/winter.

Dave I hear u about enjoying sunny days. I'm parked up in the North West, San Juan islands , catching cooking BIG Dungeness crabs#128522;I agree the aluminum needs acid wash and a good primer, and the weather has to be right! Home Depot stuff will not work. I think u are on the right path with your friends input. Like to know what those products are.

This was a failure!! I have my friend coming to give me a hand. At this point I may wait until I pull out the interior. The primer pealed in a few days but it looked good until then:) I will get it right im running out of projects. I'm thinking a bigger boat would give more to do. Lol I'm good with what I've got but my wife seems to have the itch.

I am going to give painting it a try next April/May while I have it out of water for some other stuff. I have painted aluminum before with pretty good success so I am hoping it goes well.

We will not likely ever move up from here. If anything we will move down to something trailerable and get a motorhome.

My wife wants bigger and since I can't give that to her I may just get another boat to keep her happy:)

Nice cool commercial, nothing new for me other new dinghy and new engine on order!!! Dave if you ask me about this I deny I ever wrote this :-)

Don't worry I already know, we have to talk:) your are in some real trouble!!!

Looks good! I have often thought about hanging something there in fact I believe I have something there now just not mounted yet it's just resting on the couch at the moment.

Hi
My boat have developed some, I believe, delamination on the deck in two places under the rail stanchion by the bow#128553;anybody had any of that?
What is the deck construction, balsa core? Any suggestion for a fix? Pull the 4 screws and recaulk? Or does it it major surgery
Dave,
What happened with the painting, what kind of prep did you do and what kind of primer? I know this is going to be a big job.
Still hanging out in the San Juan islands, probably head home end of the month.
Any good ideas on how to clean the bottom of a Zodiac, long green beard#128549;

I sanded the bad areas to the aluminum clean finish I was given an eaching prep and then a special primer for metal painting including aluminum I think it may have been a temperature issue. It looked good for a week or so then it started to peal my friend agreed to give me a hand but I may wait until I pull the seating. My friend is doing me a huge favor because he doesn't really want anything to do with it and woukd kill me if I ever had a friend call and ask for and similar work .
I'm hoping that I can finish all my remaining projects

odvar, the deck is cored. Is it wet up near the windlass foot controls? They did not treat the exposed wood there when they drilled the holes for the controls and water gets in and rots out the core there.

I figured the deck would be cored, no, my problem is on the starboard side, 2nd and 3rd stanchion from the bow. Not sure what to do about it, have ignored it for a couple of years.
Dave
Sounds like you did it right, but temp and moisture?

Heck of a day I had the oil pressure guage on my port motor let loose the nipple extension snapped at the end of the threads and shot oil all over the engine room. Big mess and not fun coming in on one motor! No one got hurt I was able to fix it for free but what a mess cleaning up. I still have a little left to clean but it's mostly finished. It was time to change the oil so I will drain whatever is left and change the filter add oil and try to forget about this.
