This is going to sound strange.
When I uncover my boat the upholstery on my transom has red stains on it. (beige vinyl)
Nothing I have tried will take them out.
I wipe the upholstery down every time it is out and also condition.
As the boat sits out in the sun, the stain goes away.
Short of reupholstering is there anything I can do.
It seems to be spreading to larger areas every week.

That might be the result of using too harsh of a cleaner or spray soap.

No clorox, yes to magic sponge.
I use Meguires heavy duty vinyl cleaner.
I called chap. they claim it is from the canvas rubbing on the vinyl
This does not happen.
It really is strange looking, and then the sun will just eradicate it after being uncovered.

Red staining is dead bacteria in the vinyl. Fungus/bacteria feeds on the plasticizer in the vinyl if insufficient fungicide was not added to vinyl formula during manufacturing. Bleach will temporarily kill the bad stuff but it will come back if water or dampness is present. No way to prevent it unless you can keep it 100% dry. Was in the vinyl industry for 23 years for whatever that's worth !

BobJ is correct. The less expensive (cheap) vinyls have this problem.

Bliss, doesn't necessarily have to be cheap vinyl; c/b just a mistake. The company I worked for had to pay a huge $$$ settlement because of technical errors. It wasn't our fault !

Thanks for the info.
I called Chap and they are checking to see if they can match the colors.
I cant wait to see what they charge me.
