We have to drive to Virginia next weekend for a wedding and would like to take a few days on the way back to Florida to relax. Thinking of something where we might be on a lake to bass fish or maybe someplace along the shoreline of S. Carolina (that's mid-way to home in Florida). Anyone have any special places?

If you pass a 30' power-cat being pulled with a green Ford Excursion on your way north, that'll be us (I'll be doing 65mph, no faster!). I may head into your inlet tomorrow on our way to Fort Pierce from Key Biscayne to get this puppy loaded on the trailer for our return trip to MD next Saturday.

150 year anniversary of Gettysburg is a must do if you can.

When did that get between Virginia and Florida?

Take a day and visit the old section of Charleston.

Kiawah Island is another interesting stop. As is Hilton Head. Savanah is also a very historical city. Just a little further south in Florida is Fernandino Beach with a historical section.

Many, many stops, just depending upon what you want.

Problem we're going to have is that it's a holiday weekend. Wedding is on Sat. night and we're on the road Sunday which is still part of the holiday weekend :(

There are a variety of resort type places on Lake Murray in SC, which 95 crosses. Could be hard finding lodging at this late date. Where in Virginia will you be? That determines you road route strategy. I drive between eastern NC and VA. as well as FL a lot.

Well, actually, I-95 crosses Lake Marion, not Lake Murray. :)

We'll be in Richmond, Va and hope to be driving home on Sunday. I realize we may not have a lot of choices being it's a holiday so we're gonna have to take our chances.
